Summary ✨ AI‑Generated

A high-performance engineering organization is seeking a senior platform engineer to design, automate, and operate a production Kubernetes environment. You will build internal developer platforms, improve infrastructure reliability and scalability, and work directly with on-premises systems while enabling engineering teams to deliver changes independently.

Highlights

Significant ownership of production infrastructure in a technically demanding environment, with opportunities to build scalable platforms and self-service developer tools. The role offers close collaboration with engineering and quantitative teams and exposure to AI-related infrastructure development.

Description

To quote the hiring manager: "you'll have real ownership over what you build here." You're joining a top hedge fund as a Platform Engineer, building and running the Kubernetes platform that quants and engineers rely on every day. This team sits right at the centre of how the fund is scaling with AI. You'll become an AI expert within the group. You'll also build the self-service platforms that let dev teams make changes fast at the platform layer, without waiting on you. Infrastructure is the product, internal Engineering and Quant teams are the customers. This isn't about patching things together or firefighting. You'll be designing, automating, and scaling production systems that actually matter, in an engineering-led, high-performance environment. Everything runs on-prem, so you'll be working close to the infrastructure and systems layer - building developer tooling, removing manual processes, and keeping things reliable and fast. The culture is flat, focused on getting things done, and there's no red tape slowing you down. You'll need solid experience with Kubernetes (ideally OpenShift), Linux, and production systems, plus strong Python or Go skills to automate and build tooling. You've built serious production systems before and you're genuinely hands-on with infrastructure. This is Zone 1, five days on-site initially, then four days after probation. The salary is up to £150,000 with a strong bonus on top. Breakfast and lunch are provided. If you've been looking for a role where you actually own what you build, in a place that values engineering over politics, this could be the right move. Get in touch. No up-to-date CV required.
