The Opportunity
Klohn Crippen Berger (KCB) is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join our Power and Transportation Group.
This leadership role is ideal for a seasoned engineer with 12+ years of experience in the design of large hydro and water control dams and appurtenant structures, and a broad knowledge of other related disciplines, including dam safety reviews, and condition assessments.
The successful candidate will provide technical leadership on complex hydroelectric projects, lead multidisciplinary design efforts, and serve as a senior technical reviewer, ensuring engineering excellence, quality, and compliance with industry standards.
This role offers opportunities to contribute to major hydropower developments and rehabilitation projects across North America and internationally while mentoring the next generation of engineers.
Candidates who have site experience with hydro projects (domestically and internationally) are preferred.
This Role Will Give You The Opportunity To
Lead and collaborate with a diverse teams of multidiscipline engineers, designers, and drafters from conceptual design through preliminary and final design and construction supportAct as a technical resource within the project team(s)Provide progress reports to Clients and to senior management at regular intervalsAttend site visits, gathering information as required to complement the related design activitiesLead dam safety reviews, either as a discipline or overall lead.Communicate and collaborate with clients in a professional mannerComply with company-established quality management systems throughout a project, and suggesting/implementing improvements as appropriateBusiness and professional development activities such as conference attendance and trainingDevelop and mentor younger members of the project teams
What We Require
Bachelor’s degree in hydrotechnical or civil engineeringRegistered P.
Eng.
with EGBC.
Professional registrations in other provinces and the US would be an asset.12 or more years of broad-based experienceStrong technical knowledge and design capabilities in civil engineering, specifically related to dams, from feasibility to detailed design.Have large conventional hydro and pump storage experience (i.e., over 50−100 MW)Ability to interface with other disciplines and understand the geotechnical, civil-structural, and mechanical design aspects and drawings of a projectStrong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team of professionals and with ClientsProven record of project management and client managementEffective verbal and written communications skills in English, with demonstrated competent report writing skillsConstruction site experienceExperience performing dam safety reviews and inspectionsBusiness development experience e.g., writing, and leading proposalsThe capability to manage $1Million+ projects
Education
The expected salary range for this position is $120,000 to $180,000 per year.
Compensation above this range may be considered for candidates with significant experience or specialized expertise.
