We are looking for a talented Frontend Software Engineer to join our Cloud Engineering team at our Hunmanby, North Yorkshire headquarters. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the development of DSEWebNet®, our cloud-based IoT platform, helping to deliver intuitive and reliable user experiences for customers across the globe. The Role As a Frontend Software Engineer, you will work within a multidisciplinary Cloud Engineering team to design, develop, test, and maintain modern web applications using React, TypeScript, and Next.js. You will help create responsive, accessible, and scalable user interfaces that enable customers to monitor and manage power generation, energy control, and automation equipment in near real time. Key responsibilities include: Developing and maintaining the DSEWebNet® web platform using React, TypeScript, and Next.jsBuilding reusable, accessible, and responsive user interface componentsCreating dashboards and data visualisations for live and historical telemetry informationIntegrating frontend applications with REST APIs and real-time WebSocket data feedsImplementing robust state management, form handling, and client-side validation solutionsWriting and maintaining automated unit, component, and end-to-end testsWorking closely with backend engineers to deliver seamless application experiencesContributing to shared component libraries, design systems, and frontend architecture decisionsSupporting CI/CD processes and maintaining high standards of code qualityMonitoring and improving application performance, accessibility, and usabilityParticipating in code reviews, technical discussions, and continuous improvement initiativesProducing clear and professional technical documentation throughout the development lifecycle About You We're looking for a motivated software engineer with a passion for modern web development, user experience, and delivering high-quality software solutions. You will have: Commercial experience developing web applications using React and TypeScriptExperience working with Next.js in a professional or significant project environmentStrong HTML, CSS, and responsive web design skillsExperience integrating frontend applications with REST APIsKnowledge of WebSocket technologies and real-time data handlingExperience writing automated frontend testsStrong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skillsA quality-focused approach to software developmentExcellent communication and collaboration skillsA keen eye for user experience and interface designThe ability to work effectively within a fast-paced development environmentA proactive approach to learning and continuous improvementExperience building and deploying production-ready React applications Qualifications Degree, HND, HNC, or equivalent experience in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Web Development, or a related disciplineExperience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions, or cloud-native technologies would be advantageous Why Join DSE?
