The Role We're looking for an experienced Senior Platform Engineer to help design, build and operate our AWS-based platform. As a senior technical contributor within our Platform Engineering function, you'll play a key role in shaping the capabilities that underpin our strategic objectives across Developer Experience, Service Reliability, and Business Agility. You’ll work primarily with AWS (EKS), alongside the CNCF ecosystem, Istio service mesh, ArgoCD, Terraform & Crossplane, and GitLab CI/CD. Experience with GKE or Azure is a plus. You’ll need solid skills in at least one modern language (Python, Go, Java or C#) and strong Linux administration. Key technologies: Observability: Grafana stack, Thanos, Loki, Tempo, Jaeger Security: HashiCorp Vault, IAM, policy-as-code FinOps and cost optimisation What you will do Design, build and support secure, scalable and reliable platform capabilities across AWSDevelop and improve self-service tooling that enables engineering teams to deliver software more efficientlyWork with Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies to enhance our Internal Developer PlatformSupport platform reliability, observability and operational excellence across production environmentsCollaborate closely with development teams to improve developer experience and remove delivery bottlenecksDrive the adoption of Infrastructure as Code, automation and platform engineering best practicesContribute to platform architecture and technical decisions, helping to shape future platform capabilitiesTroubleshoot complex platform issues and support incident resolution when requiredShare knowledge, mentor engineers and help raise technical standards across the team What you'll bring: Strong experience in Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) or DevOps roles within cloud-native environmentsProven production experience with EKS, Istio service mesh and GitOps, with exposure to GKE and/or Azure environmentsHands-on expertise with Terraform, Crossplane and GitLab CI/CDStrong Linux administration skills and experience building self-service platform capabilities at scaleGood understanding of security, including Vault and IAM, alongside observability tooling such as Grafana, Thanos, Loki, Tempo and JaegerExperience supporting production platforms, including incident response and operational ownershipA pragmatic engineering mindset with a strong sense of ownership, a passion for automation, and the ability to positively influence and mentor others Our values We’re guided by four core values that shape how we work and collaborate: Progression – continually improving and developing.
