Senior Backend Engineer

Brightsmith are pleased to partner with a growing energy technology business operating at the forefront of the heat pump and electrified heating transition in Germany, developing the digital infrastructure that enables connected heat pump and energy products. As the business continues to scale its technology platform, we’re looking for an experienced Backend Engineer to play a key role in building the software systems behind the next generation of connected heating. This could be a great opportunity for someone coming from backend engineering, energy technology, IoT, connected devices, SaaS or wider software platforms. Through this role, you’ll have the opportunity to work on technically interesting software that sits directly at the intersection of software, heat pumps, and the energy transition. What you’ll be doing: Developing scalable backend services and APIs supporting connected heat pump and energy products.Working primarily with Python to build and maintain robust software systems.Contributing to the development of the wider heat pump ecosystem and customer-facing digital products.Working closely with product, software and hardware teams to develop new functionality.Designing and improving systems that can operate reliably at scale.Working on technical challenges across connected devices, energy technology and software infrastructure.Contributing to the continued development of the company’s digital energy platform.
