Mid-Level Full Stack Engineer

Position Summary WellnessSpace Brands is seeking a mid-level Full Stack Engineer with strong database expertise to improve the performance, reliability, and structure of our business applications. This position will design schemas, optimize queries, support database upgrades and migrations, and contribute to both front-end and back-end development in PHP and JavaScript. The ideal candidate brings deep MySQL experience, practical full-stack skills, and a disciplined approach to testing and data integrity. About WellnessSpace Brands WellnessSpace Brands designs and manufactures experiential wellness products that support physical recovery, relaxation, and mental well-being. Our product portfolio includes HydroMassage, CryoLounge+, RelaxSpace, PolarWave, and RedZone Sauna. From heated water massage and dry cold recovery to relaxation and red-light wellness experiences, our team develops equipment used in fitness clubs, universities, hospitality settings, corporate wellness programs, multifamily communities, chiropractic practices, spas, and homes. Key Responsibilities · Improve database performance, reliability, scalability, and structure across business applications. · Design and refine database schemas, optimize slow queries, and establish effective indexing strategies. · Plan and support database upgrades, migrations, backups, recovery processes, and related documentation. · Build and maintain front-end and back-end features in PHP and JavaScript. · Write and maintain automated tests, including tests that verify database changes and migrations. · Investigate application and database issues, identify root causes, and implement durable solutions. · Support reporting and data needs through accurate queries, dashboards, or data extracts when appropriate. · Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to translate requirements into maintainable application and data solutions. Required Qualifications · At least 3 years of relevant full-stack development or database engineering experience. · Strong MySQL expertise, including query optimization, indexing, and schema design. · Experience with at least one additional database technology, such as PostgreSQL or Redis. · Hands-on experience with HTML, JavaScript, and PHP. · Comfort writing and maintaining plain PHP and JavaScript without relying on a framework. · Experience developing and testing database changes in a way that protects data integrity and application reliability. · Ability to diagnose technical problems, manage priorities, and communicate clearly with technical and nontechnical colleagues. Preferred Qualifications · Experience with data analysis, reporting queries, or dashboard development. · Experience managing cloud-hosted databases such as DigitalOcean Managed Databases or Amazon RDS. · Experience with caching technologies such as Redis or APCu. · Working knowledge of Linux server environments. · Automated testing experience with tools such as PHPUnit.
