Description

★Web Frontend Engineer (including Geospatial Data): Satellite Development Business Level Japanese Required ◆ Start-up Company ◆ Flextime & Hybrid Work ◆ In-house Development ◆ Annual salary: 6 million yen - 12 million yen -------------【About the company】------------- ・Designing, manufacturing, and operating micro-satellites. ・Building micro-satellite constellations (groups of satellites working together). ・Providing components and software related to micro-satellites. ・Operating ground station services for satellite control. ・Offering education and consulting services. -------------【 Job Description】------------- In this position, the primary responsibility is the development of Web GIS applications that utilize satellite imagery and geospatial information. The company not only develops its own satellites but also creates products that leverage data generated from its fleet, third-party satellites, ground-based devices, and existing open data. In recent years, the volume of accessible data acquired by Earth observation satellites has increased significantly. However, for users in sectors like agriculture and environmental management—who are the intended beneficiaries of this information—obtaining satellite data often requires specialized prerequisite knowledge, making it difficult to access. Furthermore, even when data is obtained, extracting meaningful information from raw data demands high levels of expertise, creating a significant barrier for users. As a result, Earth observation data is not being fully utilized despite its immense potential to solve social issues. As a satellite operator, the company believes in solving diverse social challenges by adopting a user-centric perspective, utilizing appropriate data sources including, but not limited to, Earth observation data. By combining data from various satellites and sensors with ground-based IoT data, and applying these solutions across different countries, regions, and business domains, the company seeks to create unprecedented solutions. To this end, it aims to eliminate current barriers by providing information regarding marine environmental degradation or agricultural and forest management in a format that end-users can understand intuitively. The organization places high importance on creating new products to address these challenges and driving business development based on direct user feedback. This position offers the opportunity to contribute significantly to global problem-solving. Beyond merely utilizing data from the company's own satellites, the role involves exploring innovative approaches to deliver value to end-users that exceed conventional expectations. The company welcomes applicants who wish to lead the global space business together. Please note that prior knowledge of aerospace engineering is not required, as it can be acquired after joining. 【Responsibilities】 ・Web frontend development: Includes screen design, implementation, quality improvement, and performance optimization. ・Implementation of map and visualization UIs: Handling display, layer control, and interaction design using tools such as MapLibre. ・Data integration and display: Implementing data visualization, search, filtering, and dashboard functionality in coordination with APIs. ・Requirement gathering and prototyping: Collaborating with designers, PMs, and backend engineers on project requirements and PoCs (Proof of Concept). 【Position Highlights】 ・Hands-on development: Opportunity to lead product and business development using actual satellite data. ・Cutting-edge field: Apply software engineering expertise within the forefront of the global aerospace industry. ・Global impact: Engage in international operations, such as developing products used in Brazil and Paraguay, or participating in joint research projects with foreign space agencies and government institutions. ・Strategic proximity: Work in a position close to the management team, experiencing the front lines of the space business. ・End-to-end integration: Since the company handles everything from satellite development and operation to data utilization, the role allows for a comprehensive approach, such as providing feedback for satellite design based on the specific data needs of users. 【Assignment & Culture】 ・Department: Data Solutions Division ・Team Structure: Product development is currently carried out by teams of approximately 3 to 4 members, primarily in their around 30s. 【Tools Used】 ・Primary Languages: TypeScript, Python (Rust as needed) ・Primary Libraries: React, Visualization/Map libraries (e.g., MapLibre GL JS) ・Hardware: Company-specified PC provided based on individual preference. ・Development Environment: macOS or Linux (including WSL2) ・Communication: GitHub, Slack, Zoom ・Code Management: GitHub ・Task Management: GitHub Projects V2, GitHub Issues ・Version Control: Git ・CI/CD: GitHub Actions ・Public Cloud Services: AWS ・Infrastructure as Code: Terraform ・Monitoring: Amazon CloudWatch, Grafana, Sentry ・Databases: PostGIS, Amazon Aurora DSQL 【Selection Process】 Coding Test → Document Screening → 1st Interview → 2nd Interview (+ Aptitude Test) → Final Interview *Regarding the Coding Test: The test is conducted not only to verify technical skills but also to assess cultural fit. The company welcomes individuals who possess a mindset of "giving it a try even if it's unfamiliar," rather than strictly limiting themselves to a defined scope of work. Even if you have reservations about coding tests, the company encourages you to take the challenge. -------------【 Requirements】------------- Required ・Experience developing with modern front-end technologies such as TypeScript and React ・Experience developing products as part of a team (B2B, B2C, or contract work—any type of project is acceptable) ・Experience implementing front-end solutions that integrate with APIs (including state management, asynchronous processing, and error handling) ・Experience implementing and improving user interfaces with a focus on user experience (performance, accessibility, or maintainability) Preferred ・Experience developing single-page applications ・Experience with front-end automated testing ・Experience with back-end development ・Ability to read and understand technical documents in English and apply that knowledge to design and other tasks ・Interest in business development ・Experience working with remote sensing data and geospatial data ・Experience using AWS Ideal Applicants ・Enjoys exploring and experimenting with cutting-edge technologies. ・Maintains a clear vision regarding the latest trends and future of software engineering. ・Proactively thrives in a startup environment while collaborating effectively with team members. ・Possesses a core area of expertise and is eager to engage with satellite-related services through every stage of development. -------------------------------------------------- 【Working Time 】 Flextime System 【Holidays & Time Off】 120 days off annually, including: ・Complete weekends (Saturday and Sunday). ・National holidays. ・3 days of summer vacation. ・7 days off for year-end and New Year holidays. ・Other leaves such as bereavement leave and paid time off (as per company regulations) 【Paid Leave】 You'll receive 10 days of PTO after your first month.
