About the Opportunity:
The STAFF SOFTWARE ENGINEER - NEW INITIATIVES leads the technical development of a new project applying AI to oncology care decision-making.
The role involves transforming complex, loosely defined challenges into functional products that support evidence-based treatment decisions at critical moments.
This hands-on, full-stack position impacts the organization by building foundational technology that enhances care delivery and supports growth into a category-defining platform.
Responsibilities:
Lead early-stage initiatives from discovery to production and ongoing iteration.Collaborate with clinical, policy, and operations leaders to translate care workflows into executable system logic.Own architecture and development of web interfaces, APIs, data models, integrations, and cloud infrastructure.Develop front-end experiences using Vue.js and TypeScript; build back-end services with Python, FastAPI, and Postgres on AWS.Design and productionalize LLM-powered features for care decision automation and conversational experiences.Create evaluation and guardrail patterns to ensure automated decisions are accurate, safe, and auditable.Use AI-enabled tools to accelerate prototyping and product hardening.Balance rapid exploration with considerations of security, privacy, and reliability.Establish reusable technical foundations for future projects.Communicate tradeoffs, align teams, and guide decisions amid uncertainty.Mentor engineering peers to enhance design, testing, code review, documentation, and decision-making quality.Build systems that facilitate accurate and efficient clinical decisions.
Requirements:
Experience building and supporting complex software products from concept through production.Leadership in zero-to-one or early-stage product development with undefined problems and requirements.Full-stack engineering skills with front-end frameworks (Vue.js, React, Angular) and back-end technologies (Python, FastAPI).Proficiency in API design, relational databases (Postgres), and cloud environments (AWS).Use of AI-enabled development tools for rapid prototyping and production deployment.Design and implementation of reliable LLM-powered product features.Strong architectural decision-making balancing speed, user needs, security, and scalability.Experience in fast-changing environments such as internal ventures or incubation teams.Ability to influence product and business direction through technical leadership and effective communication.
Pay Range and Compensation Package:
The pay range and compensation package for this role will be determined based on the candidate's experience, skills, and other relevant factors.
