ROLE – Mechanical Design Engineer SALARY - $90,000 - $120,000 per annum, dependent on experience TYPE – Permanent LOCATION – Wide Bay-Burnett, QLD My client specialises in the design and manufacture of bespoke machinery and heavy equipment. They are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Wide Bay-Burnett on a permanent basis. The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes: At least 2 years of experience in a similar Mechanical Design Engineering positionDegree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similarStrong experience using 3D CAD, ideally Inventor, SolidWorks, Fusion 360 etc.Previous experience designing machinery, heavy equipment, industrial equipment or similarStrong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, fabrication and manufacturing processesExperience designing with structural steel, sheet metal, machined components and fabricated partsStrong practical engineering skills including hand calculations, verification, validation, testing and prototypingExperience designing mechanical systems and equipment from concept through to productionGood understanding of design for manufacture and assemblyAble to manage projects and work to deadlines and budgetsAble to maintain technical documentation and BOMsAble to work well individually as well as part of a team The Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve: Designing machinery and heavy equipment using 3D CADDeveloping concepts and producing detailed manufacturing drawingsManaging designs through the full lifecycle from concept to productionDesigning mechanical components, assemblies and fabricated structuresWorking closely with manufacturing and production teams to ensure designs are practical and fit for purposeLiaising with manufacturing providers and suppliersSupporting prototyping, testing, assembly and commissioningCreating and maintaining technical documentation and project reportsUpdating 3D models, drawings and design documentationInputting parts into the MRP system and creating BOMsChecking drawings and designs for accuracy and sign-offWorking in a small, multi-disciplinary team across a variety of machinery and equipment projects If you are interested in this position, please apply with an up-to-date CV as soon as possible.
