Highlights
Work on highly optimized systems at the intersection of software, hardware, and financial technology.
Description
A leading quantitative trading and investment technology firm is establishing a new engineering hub in Amsterdam, with ambitions for it to become a key center of excellence for its European business.
The firm operates globally across liquid financial markets and combines cutting-edge technology, large-scale research, and world-class engineering to tackle some of the most challenging problems in systematic trading.
They are now seeking experienced C++ engineers to join a high-performance technology team building and optimizing the ultra-low-latency systems that underpin their trading operations.
The Role
You'll work at the intersection of software, hardware, and networking, helping to design and develop latency-critical systems where every microsecond matters.
This is an opportunity to work on the full stack of performance optimization, from highly tuned C++ applications through to operating system, networking, and hardware-level considerations.
Engineers in the team collaborate closely with experts across software engineering, infrastructure, and FPGA development to deliver end-to-end solutions in a highly technical environment.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and optimize high-performance C++ systems for trading, market data, and infrastructure workloadsAnalyze and improve latency across CPU, memory, cache, and networking layersBuild scalable and reliable components for real-time distributed systemsWork closely with hardware, networking, and FPGA teams to optimize critical data pathsProfile, benchmark, and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks in production systemsContribute to the design of next-generation low-latency architectures
Requirements
3+ years of professional experience developing performance-critical software in modern C++ (C++17 or newer)Strong understanding of systems programming and low-level software architectureDeep knowledge of memory management, CPU architecture, cache behavior, and concurrencyExperience working in Linux environments with familiarity around kernel tuning and performance profilingUnderstanding of networking fundamentals and system performance under loadA genuine interest in performance optimization and solving complex engineering challenges
Desirable Experience
Low-latency trading, HFT, market-making, or exchange connectivityKernel bypass technologiesTCP/UDP networkingFPGA interaction and hardware accelerationReal-time distributed systemsPerformance profiling and benchmarking tools
