About The Role We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Mobile Engineer to join our dynamic mobile application development team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, product owners, designers, testers, and fellow engineers to create high-quality digital products that serve thousands of learners and driving instructors across the UK. Your primary focus will be on developing robust backend services with Java, designing REST APIs, and integrating various database systems to support mobile applications. Experience with Flutter is highly desirable, as it will enable you to contribute to cross-platform mobile development efforts. Knowledge of AWS cloud services and Sitecore content management systems would be advantageous, enabling you to design scalable, secure, and efficient solutions. You will take ownership of features throughout their lifecycle—from initial discovery and requirements gathering to deployment, monitoring, and ongoing support. The role emphasizes modern engineering practices, including automated testing, continuous integration, and responsible use of AI-assisted development tools. Certifications in Java, AWS, Cloud, DevOps, or Agile methodologies are advantageous but not mandatory. Essential skills include designing and developing RESTful APIs, integrating backend services with mobile applications and databases, and familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases. Experience with version control systems like Git, automated testing frameworks, and modern software development practices is required. The candidate should understand the full software development lifecycle, including continuous integration, secure coding, and production support. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with effective communication abilities, are critical to success in this role. Responsibilities Design, develop, test, deploy, and support full-stack mobile application features, ensuring high standards of quality and performance.Build scalable and maintainable backend services using Java, adhering to best practices in software engineering.Design and develop RESTful APIs to facilitate seamless communication between mobile applications and backend systems.Integrate applications with relational and NoSQL databases, content management systems like Sitecore, and third-party services to enhance functionality.Contribute to mobile application development utilizing Flutter and Dart, supporting cross-platform deployment.Own features from initial discovery and requirements gathering through to deployment, monitoring, and ongoing support.Collaborate with product owners and stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.Investigate and resolve application, API, integration, and production issues promptly.Write secure, maintainable, reusable, and well-tested software following coding standards.Participate actively in code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration activities to ensure code quality.Work with AWS cloud services and modern deployment practices to optimize application performance and reliability.Engage with cross-functional teams including engineers, testers, designers, and stakeholders to deliver cohesive solutions.Contribute to Agile planning, technical discussions, solution design, and retrospectives to foster continuous improvement.Utilize AI-assisted development tools responsibly, reviewing and validating generated code to ensure standards are met.Drive improvements in engineering processes, tools, and technical standards to enhance team efficiency and product quality.
