An enterprise technology organization is seeking a software and DevOps specialist to design APIs, build integrations, and maintain reliable connections between cloud services and legacy systems.

Highlights

Role focused on enterprise integration, scalable software solutions, automation, and connecting complex technology ecosystems.

Description

The Application & Integration Developer is responsible for designing, building, testing, and maintaining scalable software connectors, APIs, and middleware solutions that enable seamless data flow and process automation across disparate enterprise platforms, cloud applications (SaaS), and legacy on-premise systems. Acting as the technical bridge between ecosystems, this role ensures high availability, data integrity, security compliance, and low-latency performance across all connected business workflows. Key Responsibilities Integration Architecture & API Development Design, develop, and deploy robust, reusable APIs (RESTful, GraphQL, SOAP) and microservices to connect internal applications and third-party vendor platforms.Build event-driven architectures, webhooks, and message queues to support both real-time and batch data synchronization across platforms (e.g., CRM, ERP, ITSM, Billing, and Identity systems).Translate complex business requirements and process workflows into technical integration specifications and data mapping blueprints. Middleware & Platform Management Configure, develop, and manage workflows within enterprise Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS) and API Management gateways (e.g., Azure Integration Services, MuleSoft, Boomi, AWS AppFlow/EventBridge, or Workato).Implement complex data transformation, enrichment, and validation logic using formats such as JSON, XML, CSV, and EDI/HL7 (where applicable).Maintain version control, API documentation (OpenAPI/Swagger), and service catalogues to ensure maintainability and ease of onboarding for downstream teams. Security, Governance & Compliance Enforce strict API security standards, including authentication and authorization protocols (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, SAML, API keys, and mutual TLS).Ensure all cross-platform data transfers comply with enterprise data governance, privacy regulations, and encryption standards (in transit and at rest).Implement rate limiting, throttling, and circuit-breaker patterns to protect core systems from overload or cascading failures. Testing, Monitoring & Operational Support Develop automated unit, integration, and end-to-end contract tests to validate payload accuracy and endpoint resilience prior to deployment.Build proactive logging, alerting, and dead-letter queue (DLQ) handling mechanisms to detect, isolate, and retry failed transactions automatically.Troubleshoot and resolve production integration incidents, performing root-cause analysis (RCA) and optimizing payload performance and throughput. Technical Skills & Qualifications Required Technical Capabilities Programming Languages: Strong proficiency in one or more modern backend languages such as C# (.NET), Java, Python, Node.js/TypeScript, or Go.API & Web Standards: Deep hands-on experience building and consuming RESTful APIs, GraphQL, Webhooks, and SOAP web services.iPaaS & Middleware: Practical experience with enterprise integration tools and cloud middleware (e.g., Microsoft Azure Logic Apps / Service Bus / API Management, AWS Lambda / Step Functions, MuleSoft, Dell Boomi, or Apache Kafka/RabbitMQ).Data & Databases: Strong working knowledge of relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL stores, alongside advanced data parsing and transformation (JSON, XML, XSLT, Liquid templates).DevOps & CI/CD: Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, GitLab), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).Desirable Experience:Experience integrating core enterprise platforms such as Dynamics 365, Salesforce, ServiceNow, SAP, NetSuite, or industry-specific operational systems.Relevant cloud or integration certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Integration Developer, AWS Certified Developer, or MuleSoft Certified Developer).Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical industry experience. Core Competencies & Soft Skills Systems Thinking: Ability to understand how a change in one platform ripples across downstream databases, reporting pipelines, and user workflows.Vendor & Stakeholder Collaboration: Clear communicator capable of coordinating directly with third-party software vendors, external API support teams, and internal business analysts to resolve undocumented API quirks.Pragmatic Problem-Solving: Comfortable navigating poorly documented legacy endpoints, rate limits, and mismatched data schemas to deliver reliable workarounds. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) System Reliability: Uptime and availability of integration pipelines (e.g., achieving greater than 99.9% successful transaction delivery).Delivery Velocity: On-time delivery of new platform connectors and API endpoints against project milestones.Error Resiliency: Reduction in manual data reconciliation efforts through automated retry logic and actionable exception alerting.Documentation Quality: 100% of production endpoints and data mappings documented in the central repository with up-to-date Swagger/OpenAPI specs.
