Description
We are looking for an experienced IT Software Engineer 5/ Technical Lead to design, develop, and support scalable enterprise applications in a cloud-native environment.
This is a 12-month contract opportunity | 100% Remote | Chicago, IL preferred
Key ResponsibilitiesLead the design and development of scalable, secure, and highly available enterprise applications.Develop backend services using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices.Design and implement cloud-native solutions using AWS.Work with AWS services including ECS/Fargate, IAM, ALB, RDS, CloudWatch, and Secrets Manager.Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, monitoring, logging, and observability.Design distributed and event-driven systems with a focus on scalability, resilience, and performance.Work with OpenSearch/Elasticsearch and relational/NoSQL databases.Troubleshoot production issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and drive performance and reliability improvements.Provide technical guidance through architecture discussions, code reviews, mentoring, and engineering best practices.Collaborate with Product, Engineering, QA, DevOps, and business stakeholders to deliver enterprise solutions.Leverage AI-assisted development tools where appropriate while maintaining strong engineering, security, and quality standards.Required Qualifications10+ years of software engineering experience5+ years in a technical lead, senior engineering, or architecture-focused capacityStrong hands-on experience with Java and Spring BootProven experience developing microservices and distributed systemsStrong hands-on AWS/cloud-native experienceExperience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as CodeStrong understanding of APIs, databases, event-driven architecture, and application performanceExperience with production support, observability, and incident managementStrong communication, technical decision-making, mentoring, and stakeholder management skillsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related fieldPreferredChicago-area candidatesExperience with enterprise-scale cloud modernizationExperience with OpenSearch/ElasticsearchExperience with AI-assisted engineering toolsStable employment history and demonstrated long-term ownership of enterprise applicationsWillingness to travel occasionally as neededWork Arrangement: 100% Remote
