About the company An international renewables developer with a growing project portfolio across Australia. This is a technical role inside a specialist grid connection team, filling a vacant position. About the role You will support the grid connection team across the full project lifecycle, from application to connect through to commercial operation. You will do the power system modelling and studies in-house, so you own the technical result rather than managing a consultant. What you will do Run in-house power system studies for the application to connect and pre-connection phases, through to NER 5.3.4A/B approval and AEMO registrationPrepare PSS/E NEM snapshots for connection studiesLead the negotiation of Generator Performance Standards with network service providers and AEMODevelop GPS compliance test plans, run hold point testing and write the hold point and model validation reportsReview OEM inverter and PPC models in PSS/E, PSCAD and PowerFactory and advise the business on the risks of eachCarry out harmonics assessments for S5.2.5.2 complianceBuild and maintain Python tools that automate grid connection studiesAdvise internal teams on grid connection matters, including tenders, due diligence, contracts and site selectionSupport changes to operating assets and help develop junior engineers What you bring Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (Masters or PhD is a plus)5 or more years of experience in power systems or grid connectionStrong PowerFactory, PSCAD and PSS/E skills for grid connection studiesSound knowledge of NER Chapter 5 and Schedule 5.2Experience with GPS compliance test plans and hold point testingConfidence working through complex engineering problems independentlyClear report writing and the ability to explain technical points to a range of stakeholders Most grid connection engineers spend their time supporting studies someone else signs off.
