What You’ll Do As a Buildings Control Engineer in our Buildings team, you’ll provide specialist technical leadership across building automation, smart buildings and control systems. Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, clients and contractors, you’ll help deliver future-ready solutions across commercial, health, education, defence, cultural, transport and critical infrastructure projects. You’ll: Lead the design of building automation and control systems from concept and detailed design through construction, testing and commissioning.Develop control philosophies, functional descriptions, sequences of operation, points lists and system and network architectures.Design and specify Building Management Systems and Energy Management Systems.Provide technical input across smart-building platforms, DDC, PLC and SCADA systems, OT networks, field instrumentation and control devices.Review automation designs, specifications, shop drawings and contractor submissions, including controller wiring diagrams, control cabinet drawings and HMI graphics.Provide technical guidance during construction, testing and commissioning, including onsite implementation when required.Coordinate automation and control requirements across mechanical, electrical, digital, security, fire, hydraulic and sustainability disciplines.Work closely with clients and stakeholders to understand operational requirements and develop practical, reliable and future-ready solutions.Apply relevant engineering legislation, Australian Standards and Safety in Design principles throughout project delivery.Manage technical delivery across multiple concurrent projects.Prepare technical scopes, specifications and fee proposals for tenders.Support the technical development of engineers and contribute to the continued growth of our automation and smart-buildings capability.Travel to client sites when required, with potential opportunities to support projects overseas. What You’ll Bring You'll have strong experience in building automation, controls engineering or smart buildings, supported by relevant engineering qualifications or equivalent industry experience. You'll also bring: Strong experience designing and delivering Building Management Systems (BMS) Experience with DDC, PLC and/or SCADA control systems. Knowledge of building automation protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, MQTT or OPC. Experience developing control philosophies, functional descriptions and sequences of operation. Understanding of OT networks, system integration and smart-building technologies. Experience across design, construction support, testing and commissioning. Knowledge of building services systems, particularly HVAC controls and energy management. Strong technical documentation, specification writing and design review capability. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
