Summary
✨ AI‑Generated
A technology-focused organization is seeking a software engineer to develop tools and infrastructure that improve collaboration between automated coding systems and human developers. The role involves building scalable software across multiple layers and solving complex engineering challenges.
Highlights
Opportunity to build advanced developer infrastructure, work across the stack, and contribute to innovative AI-focused engineering solutions.
Description
About Concord AI
Concord AI is building the coordination layer for AI coding agents.
Today, coding agents are increasingly capable of working autonomously, but they still operate largely in isolation.
Once multiple agents are working across the same codebase, teams run into a different set of problems: duplicated work, conflicting changes, unclear ownership, missing context, and messy handoffs.
Concord gives agents shared work-state so they can coordinate with each other and with human developers.
Our open-source tooling lets agents claim work, detect overlapping tasks, record decisions, hand work off, and understand what other agents are doing.
We are now building Concord Cloud to bring this coordination across teams, repositories, and long-running agent workflows.
The role
We are looking for a Software Engineer to help build Concord across the stack.
You will work directly on the product and infrastructure behind a developer tool used by both humans and AI agents.
The work ranges from backend APIs and data models to integrations, developer tooling, and parts of the web application.
This is an early-stage role, so you should be comfortable owning problems rather than waiting for detailed specifications.
What you’ll work on
Build and improve backend services and APIs used by coding agents.Design systems for coordinating multiple agents working on the same repositories.Develop integrations with tools such as GitHub, Linear, Slack, Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex.Work on Concord Cloud, including authentication, workspaces, shared state, permissions, and observability.Improve the open-source Concord MCP server and CLI.Build product features in TypeScript and Next.js.Design reliable data models and APIs for asynchronous and long-running agent workflows.Debug production issues across application, database, and infrastructure layers.Talk to developers using Concord and turn their feedback into product improvements.Help shape engineering practices while the team and codebase are still small.
What we’re looking for
Strong software engineering fundamentals.Experience building production web applications or backend systems.Comfortable working with TypeScript and modern JavaScript.Experience with APIs, databases, and cloud infrastructure.Ability to independently investigate unfamiliar systems and ship working solutions.Good judgement around simplicity, reliability, and maintainability.Comfortable working remotely and communicating asynchronously. You do not need prior experience building AI agents.
Nice to have
Experience with Next.js, PostgreSQL, or serverless/cloud infrastructure.Experience building developer tools, CLIs, or SDKs.Familiarity with GitHub Apps, webhooks, or OAuth integrations.Experience with MCP or agent tooling.Experience at an early-stage startup or on a small engineering team.Contributions to open-source projects.
Why join
Concord is working on a problem that is becoming more important as coding agents move from isolated assistants toward autonomous collaborators.
You would join early enough to have meaningful influence over the product, architecture, and engineering culture rather than inheriting a mature system with every decision already made.
You will work closely with the founders, ship directly to users, and have substantial ownership from the start.
Working at Concord
Fully remote across the United States.High ownership and low bureaucracy.Async-first communication.Small team with direct access to users and product decisions. We care more about what you can build than credentials or pedigree.
If you enjoy building developer infrastructure, thinking about how AI changes software engineering, and working on ambiguous problems from first principles, we’d like to hear from you.
