The three main foundational pillars of our internship program are: develop, educate and network. We want to ensure each of our interns receive a real-world working experience that encourages academic, professional and personal growth. Candidates should be versatile, eager and able to work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive financial and technical environment. Our interns will be working 5 days in office per week at one of our state-of-the-art offices in Chicago, Kansas City, and New York City. To be eligible for this internship, applicants must be enrolled in a university or college program and should not be scheduled to graduate before December of the internship year. Role Overview As an Infrastructure Intern, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting the technology that powers Cboe's global workforce, offices, datacenters, and exchanges. This role provides exposure to both Network Infrastructure and End User Computing (EUC), offering opportunities to work with enterprise networking, security, automation, end-user support, identity management, collaboration technologies, and AI-driven solutions. Working alongside experienced engineers and specialists, you'll contribute to real projects, support day-to-day operations, and develop technical skills in a fast-paced financial technology environment. You'll also complete a meaningful summer project and present your work to team members and leadership. What You'll Do Support network and EUC teams with day-to-day operational activitiesAssist with troubleshooting hardware, software, networking, and end-user technology issuesHelp maintain and document infrastructure, inventory, diagrams, and technical proceduresParticipate in network configuration reviews, testing, and infrastructure change activitiesBuild or enhance automation solutions using tools such as Python, PowerShell, or other scripting technologiesExplore and evaluate AI-powered tools and workflows that improve operational efficiencyAssist with firewall reviews, security policies, identity management, and device administrationWork with collaboration technologies, conference room systems, and endpoint management solutionsTrack work and document progress using Jira and ConfluencePartner with experienced team members to learn enterprise IT operations in a global environmentDeliver a summer project and present your findings and recommendations at the conclusion of the internship Qualifications Pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Networking, or a related fieldBasic understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, and switchingFamiliarity with Windows, macOS, cloud technologies, or endpoint/device management conceptsExposure to scripting or automation through coursework, projects, or personal experienceInterest in technology infrastructure, cybersecurity, automation, and AIStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to work effectively in a collaborative team environmentStrong written and verbal communication skillsDetail-oriented with a commitment to qualityCurious mindset with a willingness to learn and take initiative Nice to Have Experience with Python, PowerShell, Bash, or other scripting languagesFamiliarity with Azure, cloud platforms, or mobile device management (MDM)Knowledge of firewall, VPN, or network security conceptsExperience with Linux or command-line toolsExposure to AI tools, prompt engineering, LLMs, or automation projectsFamiliarity with Git, REST APIs, JSON, Jira, or ConfluenceCoursework or certifications related to networking, security, or infrastructure (Network+, Security+, CCNA, etc.)Hands-on lab experience (Packet Tracer, GNS3, EVE-NG, home lab, etc.) Benefits And Perks Competitive compensationFlexible, hybrid work environment, 5 days in office.2:1 401(k) match, up to 8% match immediately upon hire. Our pay range for interns is determined by function and education level. The national new hire base pay range for this job in the United States is $22.00 - $42.00 per hour. This range represents the minimum and maximum base pay target for new hires working in the position full time. Within the range, individual pay is determined by years of education completed. In addition to base pay, eligibility for our total rewards program may include benefits such as 401 (k) with a generous company match and paid sick time.
