Description
Overview
FTI Defense is seeking transitioning Navy service members who want to continue supporting the Navy mission while building the next chapter of their careers in software development, data, and AI centric solutions.
This opportunity is designed for Sailors who have been performing software development, programming, application development, data engineering, automation, systems development, technical analysis, or related technical work during their military service.
We recognize that experience gained while serving may not look like a traditional commercial Software Developer resume.
What matters is the work you have performed, the technical skills you have developed, your ability to solve problems, and the understanding of the Navy mission and operational environment that you bring with you.
As a member of FTI’s team supporting the Naval Safety Command, you will work alongside Software Engineers, Data Scientists, and technical experts to develop, test, and maintain software and data solutions supporting the Navy’s safety mission.
The primary work location is the Naval Safety Command in Norfolk, VA.
A DoD Secret clearance or above is required.

What You Will Work On
Design, develop, document, test, and debug software applications and solutions.
Develop and maintain data pipelines and support data transformation activities.
Analyze existing code, troubleshoot problems, identify errors, and improve applications.
Participate throughout the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation.
Work alongside Software Engineers, Data Scientists, and Navy customers to prototype, refine, test, and deploy solutions.
Help transition analytical and AI models developed by Data Scientists into operational applications and workflows.
Develop modular functions, classes, packages, and reusable software components.
Use Git and modern source control practices to collaborate with other developers.
Support automated testing and quality checks to improve software reliability.
Contribute to dashboard development, data visualization, reporting, and other customer facing analytical products.
Apply your existing understanding of Navy operations, terminology, processes, and mission requirements while expanding your technical experience in software development, data, and AI.

Continue the Mission in a New Role
Your transition from military service does not have to mean leaving the Navy mission behind.
The technical experience you developed while serving has value.
Whether you have been writing code, automating processes, working with data, developing applications, supporting operational systems, or solving technical problems for your command, those experiences can provide the foundation for your next career.
At FTI, you can bring that experience into a team of Software Engineers and Data Scientists developing AI centric and data driven solutions supporting the Navy.
You already understand the mission.
Bring your technical experience with you and continue supporting it in your next career.
