Role Description
This role will be part of the TMX Australia Exchange team and will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing high-performance back-end systems that support TMX Group’s trading and market infrastructure platforms.
In this full-time, on-site role located in the Greater Sydney Area, the engineer will develop and maintain C++ services, integrate with existing systems, and ensure reliability, scalability, and low-latency performance.
Day-to-day tasks include implementing automated unit tests, testing changes to systems and platform functionality prior to deployment and working to resolve identified systemic issued.
The engineer will help with production operations and ensure features are correctly implemented in certification and production environments, in addition to planning team sprints and participating in peer code reviews.
The role also involves maintaining documentation, supporting deployment and monitoring activities, being the SME for one or more systems/technology and mentoring other team members.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Computer Science, including algorithms, data structures, and operating systems.Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.Demonstrated expertise in Software Development and Programming, with significant hands-on experience in modern C++.Technical leadership in high pressure engineering environments.STEM background with an interest in financial markets, derivatives pricing, quantitative modeling, and risk analytics.Experience with Real Time Software EngineeringExperience with other software development languages including Java, Python, PHPFunctional programming skills in SQLFinancial markets experience a plus (market data, reference data, risk).Strong Linux background.Strong ability to work within a global team, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlinesMust have proven ability to perform low level profiling and C++ application optimization.Specific financial industry related experience is a plus: i/o throughput optimization, memory efficiency, complex multi-threading.Demonstrate ability to work as a self-starter requiring limited supervision; take ownership of projects from start to finish from requirements and specifications to QA testing, documentation and production release.Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively in a deadline driven environmentFlexibility to fit into a small organization, strong interpersonal and team skills are a mustProficiency in Back-End Web Development concepts, including APIs, microservices, integration, and performance optimization.
