About The Role The role is responsible for coordination of Council’s Reconciliation Action Plan which requires developing and maintaining inclusive and mutually beneficial partnerships with the local Aboriginal community, ensuring that Aboriginal people can participate in program and service planning. The role is also required to work with various Business Units across Council and provide advice across Council regarding issues relevant to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. As a key member of a high performing team of Community Development Specialists, develop programs, services and activities that designed to address the needs of Aboriginal people in the Bayside LGA. Key Accountabilities Within the area of responsibility, this role is required to: Coordination of Council’s Reconciliation Action Plan, including reporting on achievements and progress.Support Council’s RAP Working Group and other key stakeholders to plan and deliver Reconciliation Week, NAIDOC Week, and other significant programs that increase awareness and appreciation for Aboriginal culture and cultural heritage.Support and advocate on community issues.Work with Aboriginal organisations and local groups to develop and implement meaningful and responsive community development activities.Research and prepare grant applications for funding initiatives relevant to the Aboriginal community.Promote the positive and collaborative culture and values of the organisation through open, fair and transparent decision making and ethical, professional behaviour.Work in collaboration with the Community Support and Programs team, Coordinator, Manager and other internal stakeholders to achieve the business unit goals, work requests, and Council priorities. About You Tertiary or other qualifications and/or equivalent experience in a relevant field.Aboriginality (people of Aboriginal descent as per Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977).Current Driver’s Licence Class C.
