A challenging engineering role focused on designing and evolving software systems for complex technical platforms. The position involves translating stakeholder needs into requirements, defining architectures, ensuring traceability, and collaborating with multiple engineering disciplines.

Highlights

Opportunity to work on complex software-intensive systems, combining requirements engineering, architecture design, and cross-disciplinary collaboration in an advanced engineering environment.

Description

Understand the intent behind operational concepts, stakeholder needs and system requirementsDevelop and maintain top-level requirements for the spacecraft software systemStructure complex behaviour into functions, interfaces, modes, scenarios and data flowsDefine interactions between distributed processors, avionics units, payloads and ground systemsUse behavioural and interface models to test assumptions and identify gapsMaintain traceability from system requirements to software architecture and verificationBring the relevant disciplines together to resolve unclear, conflicting or changing requirementsSupport the refinement of the Requirements Baseline into detailed software specificationsYour Qualifications A degree in computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering or a related disciplineSeveral years of experience in embedded software, distributed software architecture or software-intensive systems engineering with a good understanding of hardware/software interactionPractical experience with requirements-based verificationThe ability to structure complex technical information and express it through requirements, scenarios or modelsAn interest in working across system, software and verification disciplinesA strong focus on quality, as well as excellent teamwork and communication skills, combined with a passion for your workVery good written and spoken EnglishUseful Additional Experience Experience in some of the following areas would be helpful, but we do not expect you to bring all of them:Requirements engineering for spacecraft, avionics or other regulated embedded systems; ECSS, DO-178 or comparable engineering and assurance processesRequirements management with DOORS, DOORS NextGen, Polarion or a comparable toolBehavioural modelling with SysML, UML, Capella, state machines or sequence diagramsInterface specification and end-to-end analysis for distributed systemsFault detection, isolation and recovery, redundancy or degraded-mode operationReal-time operating systems and on-board communication technologiesKnowledge of GermanYou will initially work on defined areas of a requirements baseline coordinated by an experienced lead engineer. You will receive support in learning our space-specific methods, tools and processes, and can progressively take responsibility for larger areas of the spacecraft software specification. If the role interests you but your experience does not cover every item in the “Useful Additional Experience” section, we would still be pleased to hear from you.
