Senior Cybersecurity Application Penetration Testing Engineer

About this role: Wells Fargo are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Senior Cyber Security Application Penetration Testing Engineer to join our Technology Cybersecurity department. In this technical role, you will be responsible for leading and conducting penetration testing on applications, identifying potential defects, and supporting remediation conversations. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of web technologies, as well as advanced knowledge and experience with AI enhanced scanners and Tools. In addition, the Senior Cyber Security Research Engineer will mentor junior engineers in web application pen testing tools and techniques. In this role, you will: Lead or participate in the research, analysis, design, testing and implementation of complex computer network security and protection technologies for company information and network systems and applications Act as professional ethical penetration tester utilizing hacking tools to modify or create proof of concept exploits that mimic techniques of attackers to identify vulnerabilities and associate with a severity rating by deriving impact and ease of exploit Review and analyze advanced computer security incident response activities and technical investigations of information security related incidents or breach related activates Perform tests on networking devices, appliance products and web-based application Implement and develop custom penetration testing techniques and tools Perform security risk assessments to ensure compliance with corporate information security policies and adherence to best practices Provide guidance and leadership to more experienced Information Security Engineers and act as a mentor for these engineers interested in penetration testing and offensive security Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals Demonstrate proficiency in using AI enhanced security scanners and Tools Leverage AI to accelerate defect identification and validation Apply strong technical judgment when validating and integrating AI assisted outputs into solutions Understand and account for model limitations, security risks, and operational considerations Ensure AI usage aligns with security, compliance, privacy, and ethical standards Required Qualifications, US: 4+ years of Cyber Security Research experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education 4+ years of Web application penetration testing 4+ years Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST) Desired Qualifications: Advanced experience in DAST tools such as Invicti, Appscan, Webinspect, Fiddler, Burp Suite Advanced knowledge of application security and common vulnerabilities (OWASP Top 10) Experience with scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Shell) Knowledge of security best practices and compliance standards (e.g., PCI DSS, GDPR) Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Security certifications such as OSCP, BSCP, GWAPT, GPEN, GXPN or equivalent are a plus Locations: San Francisco, CA Charlotte, NC Chandler, AZ Irving, TX Job Expectations: Ability to work a hybrid schedule – 3 days per week on-site/in office and 2 days per week remote This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship Pay Range Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location.
