Job Description ADGA is seeking experienced Senior Programmers / Software Developers to lead the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of complex software applications and systems. The successful candidates will bring extensive hands-on software development experience and a strong understanding of the full software development lifecycle. Working within multidisciplinary technical teams, they will analyze complex requirements, develop scalable software solutions, resolve technical challenges, contribute to technical decision-making, and ensure software products meet established quality, security, performance, and maintainability standards. This role is suited to senior software professionals who can work independently on complex technical problems while collaborating effectively with system architects, quality assurance specialists, project managers, and other stakeholders. The successful candidates will play a key role in delivering reliable, secure, and maintainable software solutions in support of complex technical environments. Key Responsibilities Review, analyze, and provide recommendations on software system and subsystem requirements, architecture, and interface documentation. Design, develop, and implement complex software applications, modules, and services in accordance with approved specifications and technical standards. Analyze user and business requirements and translate them into functional and technical software solutions. Develop and maintain high-quality, scalable, secure, and maintainable code using appropriate programming languages, frameworks, and development tools. Conduct and contribute to code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards, quality, security, performance, and maintainability requirements. Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve complex software defects and technical issues across development, testing, and production environments. Design and execute unit, integration, and system testing to validate software functionality, performance, and reliability. Collaborate with system architects, QA analysts, project managers, and other technical stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of software solutions. Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including design documents, test plans, user guides, administrator guides, and release notes. Participate in technical, design, and management reviews to monitor progress, identify risks, resolve issues, and recommend corrective actions. Analyze software system deficiencies and recommend scalable, maintainable, and cost-effective solutions. Support the deployment, configuration, maintenance, and ongoing enhancement of software systems. Work with version control systems and CI/CD processes to support efficient, reliable, and repeatable software development and deployment. Ensure compliance with applicable security, privacy, regulatory, and software development requirements. Research, evaluate, and recommend emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and best practices. Contribute to the continuous improvement of software development processes, tools, standards, and system capabilities. Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing to other members of the development team as required. Qualifications A minimum of 10 years of demonstrated professional experience as a Programmer, Software Developer, Software Engineer, or in a similar software development role. Demonstrated experience performing a minimum of six of the core software development responsibilities associated with this position. Extensive experience reviewing and analyzing software requirements, architecture, and interface documentation. Extensive experience designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining software applications, modules, or services. Experience translating complex user and business requirements into functional and technical software solutions. Strong hands-on programming experience using modern programming languages, frameworks, and development tools. Demonstrated experience conducting code reviews and applying software engineering standards and best practices. Experience debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving complex software defects across development, testing, and production environments. Experience designing and executing unit, integration, and system testing. Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary technical teams. Experience preparing and maintaining detailed technical documentation. Strong experience using version control systems. Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and modern software deployment practices. Knowledge of secure software development principles and security and privacy considerations. Demonstrated ability to analyze complex technical problems and recommend practical, scalable, and maintainable solutions. Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills. Additional Information Must currently hold or be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret (Level II) Canadian Federal Government Security clearance, VCR’s and Controlled Goods clearances. If you do not currently hold the required security clearance ADGA can initiate the clearance process on your behalf; however, you will not be eligible for hire until the clearance has been successfully obtained. The posted salary reflects an employee compensation model; consultant rates will be adjusted accordingly. We will consider candidates for either employment or consultant arrangements.
