The Intermediate Software Developer works closely with all areas of the business to gather product requirements to effectively design, implement and test components of the system. This role contributes to all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle from analysis, design, implementation, verification and maintenance of solutions. Responsibilities: Support the design, development, and implementation of diverse applications using web technologiesCreate and maintain detailed technical product and end user support documentationEvaluate requirements and propose high level design and technical solutions at all stages of developmentAnalyze solutions and applications to ensure that they are interoperable, performant and maintainableWrite high-quality and well-documented code for projects to ensure adherence to team and/or department coding standardsEvaluate and provide accurate estimated timelines for development requirementsParticipate in and perform code reviews to ensure quality, proactive identification of defects, and recommend improvementsInvestigate and resolve complex technical challenges for assigned projectsMaintain in-depth knowledge of technologies that will be used in new and existing modules of the solution (e.g., Machine Learning frameworks, data storage and capture frameworks etc.)Advise and provide feedback and recommendations on quality technical design and industry trendsSupport in complex projects for other colleagues including, but not limited to, supporting the workflow and providing expert advice and solutions to escalated and complex project challenges and roadblocksActively participate in setting and maintaining software development best practices within the department and team Requirements: 5+ years of full-cycle software development lifecycle experience. Experience in the healthcare and/or technology industry, preferredPost-secondary education in computer science, computer engineering, or similar and/or equivalent work experienceHands-on experience with Java and the Spring framework, building and consuming RESTful APIs, working with relational databases using SQL, and using Git for version control in collaborative development environmentsSolid understanding of the full software development lifecycle, including continuous integration (CI) pipelines for build automation, containerization and deployment using Docker, and related DevOps practicesDevelop middleware products, unit test practices (TDD), transaction processingCreating and maintaining clear technical documentationAbility to maintain repositories with a focus on code health and qualityExperience in end-to-end feature developmentKnowledge or experience in healthcare, HL7/ FHIR, an assetNice to have: Full-stack development experience, including front-end technologies such as Angular, JavaScript, and tools like Node.js and npm, along with a solid understanding of HTTP protocols and browser-based development Smile discloses that artificial intelligence (AI) may be used in portions of the recruitment and selection process, such as resume screening or application assessment.
