Position Overview Allegheny County DHS seeks a motivated Full Stack Engineering Intern to contribute to the development and maintenance of our web applications. You will work with modern technologies including React for frontend development and Django for backend services, while gaining hands-on experience in a mission-driven environment serving the residents of Allegheny County. Key Responsibilities Develop and enhance features for React-based frontend applicationsBuild and improve backend services using DjangoWrite clear, maintainable code following established coding standards and best practicesCreate and maintain technical documentation in ConfluenceTrack work items, bugs, and features using JiraParticipate in code reviews and collaborate with the engineering teamAssist with testing, debugging, and troubleshooting application issues Required Skills & Qualifications Currently enrolled in a Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related programFamiliarity with web development concepts (HTML, CSS, REST APIs)Ability to write clear documentationStrong problem-solving and communication skillsAbility to work independently and take ownership of assigned tasksCollaborative mindset with ability to work effectively in a team environment Preferred Skills & Qualifications (having one or none of these is fine) Basic knowledge of JavaScript/React fundamentalsUnderstanding of Python and Django framework basicsSQL and relational database experienceMicrosoft Azure cloud platform knowledgeExperience with version control systems (Git)Familiarity with Agile development practicesPrevious internship or project-based development experience What You'll Gain Real-world experience developing software for public sector applicationsExposure to the complete development lifecycleUnderstanding of government technology challenges and solutionsProfessional experience in a collaborative, mission-driven environment
