Our company origins from a merger between Battolyser Systems and VDL Hydrogen Systems. We are engineers on a mission to capture low-cost solar and wind energy and convert it into affordable hydrogen to fuel our industries sustainably. We develop the first fully flexible pressurized alkaline electrolyser for industrial applications. Unlike conventional systems that cannot follow volatile power prices, our Flexolyser™ is designed to switch on and off without compromise. Join our international team of bright colleagues with professional backgrounds in various top companies and institutes. ‍ About The Role ‍ As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be part of the Stack Development Team in Eindhoven, working on the design of our next build. Our product is built from a large number of cells in series, and then from several of those stacks working together on one system. Small differences and small mistakes carry through in these final assemblies. ‍ Your job is to understand the challenges and produce a design that can be built at a cost that works. You decide where the design needs optimising and where it is good enough. You look beyond day one: how it ages, how it is maintained, and what happens at end of life. Together with colleagues from other disciplines and suppliers, you reach solutions that fit and that meet our requirements and the regulations that apply. ‍ Your Main Responsibilities Are: ‍ The mechanical design of the stack from concept, through prototype, to a release that production can buildThe structural module around it, and the same design support to our balance-of-stack designMaking both manufacturable and affordable at serial volumes, with substantiation that stands up under PED 2014/68/EU and notified-body scrutinyThe technical relationship with the suppliers who build it: selection, development, qualification, and solving problems togetherThe mentorship to more junior engineers providing technical guidance and, fostering a safety-conscious and standards-compliant engineering culture. ‍ We value autonomy and you will have lots of freedom, with that we expect you to take initiative and ownership of your role. Depending on your level of experience, you will start with an appropriate scope of responsibility and grow into more complex design and system-level work over time, supported by experienced colleagues. You have seen designs fail in production and you design to avoid it. You are comfortable deciding with incomplete information, because in first-of-a-kind development it always is.
