INJECTION MOLD TOOLING DESIGNER
This is a hands-on tooling design role for someone who understands injection molds beyond simply designing plastic parts.
You will help develop and standardize mold platforms that can be reused across a large portfolio of high-volume molded products, improving tooling efficiency, flexibility, and speed to launch.
The company designs and builds its tooling in-house, giving this person direct access to mold makers, machinists, programmers, and engineering throughout the entire process.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design injection mold bases and tooling platforms for high-volume productionDevelop standardized and reusable tooling concepts including mold bases, inserts, and interchangeable cavity systemsCreate complete mold layouts including gating, cooling, venting, ejection, cores, and cavitiesDevelop 3D models, assemblies, and detailed tooling drawings in SolidWorksWork directly with the internal toolroom throughout mold design, machining, assembly, and validationDesign around hot runner systems and high-volume molding requirementsApply DFM, tolerance analysis, and root cause problem solving to improve tooling performanceSupport tooling standardization and reuse to reduce lead times and capital investment
REQUIREMENTS
5+ years of injection mold design, mold making, or advanced tooling experienceStrong understanding of injection mold construction, mold bases, cores, cavities, shutoffs, cooling, venting, and ejectionAdvanced SolidWorks experience requiredAbility to design tooling with manufacturability, mold performance, and long-term serviceability in mindStrong understanding of injection molding processes and high-volume productionExperience with hot runner systems preferredExperience with modular, standardized, or reusable tooling concepts is a plus, but not requiredMastercam experience is a plusDegree preferred, but equivalent mold design or mold making experience will be considered
