Job Description Job Title: Software Developer IV Location: Remote – Canada Reports to: Software Engineering Manager Employment Type: Full-time This is a new vacancy About The Role The Software Developer IV contributes to all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle through the analysis, design, implementation, verification, and maintenance of software solutions. This role works closely with Business Unit stakeholders to review requirements, validate designs, create work estimates, develop software, and verify product releases. The Software Developer IV also works in close collaboration with the Software Development Team Lead to define and implement best practices across all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle, including the effective and responsible use of AI-assisted development tools. In This Role, You Will Develop a detailed technical understanding of client needs and project requirementsCollaborate with technical stakeholders to create detailed work package estimatesCreate, prioritize, assign, and monitor all software development tasks for assigned projectsLead and coordinate day-to-day execution for Engineering team membersBe the primary point of contact for project team status updatesDesign and code software applications from business and technical specifications, leveraging AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery while maintaining quality, security, and adherence to team standardsDevelop and execute unit, component, and integration tests to verify requirements are met, using AI assistance to expand coverage and identify edge cases that manual authoring might missPerform code reviews — including review of AI-generated code — to ensure quality, proactively identify defects, catch hallucinated APIs or insecure patterns, and recommend improvementsInvestigate and resolve complex technical issues for assigned projects, using AI tools as a research and debugging accelerator while validating outputs against authoritative sourcesContribute to the creation of technical and end-user product documentation, using AI tools to draft and iterate efficiently from source code, requirements, and design artifactsApply secure coding practices and consider production observability, debuggability, and maintainability in all work Required Qualifications Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience10+ years of full-stack software development with both frontend and backend experienceAdvanced proficiency in TypeScript, HTML, CSS/SCSS, Node.js, REST API design, and SQL-based database queryingAdvanced proficiency in either Angular or React, with working knowledge of the otherExperience writing incremental unit tests and applying coding best practicesExperience with relational and non-relational database design and developmentExperience with Git and Git-based CI/CD pipelinesProficient with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) and able to judge when to accept, edit, or reject generated outputSkilled at providing effective context — codebase conventions, requirements, constraints — to produce production-quality resultsExperience using AI to accelerate test authoring, documentation, and routine refactoringAware of AI tool limitations: hallucinated APIs, outdated patterns, security pitfalls in generated code, and the need for human verification before mergeSelf-directed and detail-oriented, able to take ownership of work from requirements through releaseStrong communication and problem-solving skills, comfortable working across technical and business stakeholdersSupports the growth of other team members through peer reviews, pairing, and mentorship Preferred Qualifications ElasticSearch or other non-relational query experienceEnd-to-end test automation experience with Playwright, Cypress, or similar frameworksCloud platform experience (AWS preferred; Azure or GCP also valuable), including Redshift or comparable data warehouse experienceFamiliarity with secure coding practices and common vulnerability classes (OWASP Top 10)Experience building software in Agentic fashion Compensation And Benefits This position has a starting salary range of $100,000 - $120,000 CAD per year. The range represents what we reasonably and in good faith expect to pay for the role at the time of posting. An employee’s pay within the range is determined by a number of factors, including relevant skills, education, qualifications, experience, performance, business or organizational needs, and geographic location.
