About The Role We're modernizing how ComPsych builds technology — new customer-facing web and mobile experiences, a unified design system, and AI-powered capabilities across our products. That means raising the engineering bar for how we design, build, and operate software, with Engineering, Product, and Design working together end to end. We're seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer who already works in a collaborative, domain-driven manner and desires ownership of significant parts of our frontend foundation. This role is high-leverage: you will focus more on domain-level architecture, technical direction, and production ownership rather than writing every line of code. As a frontend engineer, you will be held to high standards for design, testing, performance, security, and production quality, with a particular emphasis on browser behavior, component architecture, accessibility, and design systems. Our primary development framework is Angular + TypeScript, but strong experience with React or similar frontend technologies is highly relevant. Responsibilities Own a specific frontend domain end to end, including architecture, quality, evolution, and production behavior, ensuring shared capabilities support other engineers and teams.Set technical direction within the frontend platform by designing implementation patterns, establishing clear boundaries, and delegating build work to AI agents, stepping in for debugging or complex issues when necessary.Lead diagnosis and resolution of difficult production frontend problems, including performance bottlenecks, reliability issues, and browser compatibility challenges, maintaining accountability for what is shipped and learning from incidents.Collaborate closely with Product, Design, QA, and full-stack engineers to shape solutions that incorporate frontend architecture, browser behavior, accessibility, and platform constraints early in the development process.Define and uphold the quality standards for your domain, including accessibility, testing, and performance benchmarks. Make changes verifiable before release and facilitate safe evolution of the platform for consuming teams.Mentor other engineers, review significant code changes, and promote best practices to raise the overall engineering bar within your team and beyond.Contribute to the development of reusable frontend systems, including component API design, theming, package management, and migration strategies, ensuring backward compatibility and ease of use for other developers.Design and implement comprehensive frontend testing strategies across unit, component, interaction, visual regression, and end-to-end levels, utilizing tools such as Jest, Testing Library, Playwright, or Storybook.Ensure frontend security and privacy considerations are integrated into all stages of development, including XSS prevention, session management, data handling, and third-party integrations.Operate as a technical leader by transforming ambiguous problems into clear solutions, explaining tradeoffs, mentoring team members, and taking responsibility for production incidents and ongoing platform improvements.Leverage AI tools for planning, implementation, testing, and review, delegating scoped work effectively while maintaining accountability for the final product. Qualifications Extensive experience with TypeScript and modern frontend development, with a proven track record in building substantial applications using Angular, React, or similar frameworks.Deep understanding of browser and web platform fundamentals, including semantic HTML, CSS, DOM, rendering behavior, APIs, and cross-browser compatibility.Experience designing reusable, scalable frontend systems, including component APIs, theming, package management, and migration strategies.Strong knowledge of frontend testing methodologies and experience with tools such as Jest, Testing Library, Playwright, or Storybook.Ability to define and enforce accessibility and performance standards, with experience diagnosing rendering and network performance issues.Solid understanding of frontend security and privacy best practices, including XSS prevention, session handling, and third-party script management.Proven leadership capabilities, including mentoring, technical decision-making, and incident management in production environments.Experience working in an AI-first development environment, delegating tasks to agentic tools while maintaining accountability for outcomes.Bonus: Hands-on Angular expertise, experience with visual regression tooling, and contributions to shared component libraries are highly desirable.
