Job Description As a Backend Developer in the Backend team, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of a high-performance Online Gambling Platform. This platform supports casino games and their integration with online casino operators worldwide. You will be part of a collaborative team of Backend Developers and QA Engineers who value teamwork, clear feature scopes, code quality, and continuous learning. You will report to the Backend Team Lead and Backend Architect. During your onboarding period, experienced team members will guide you through our internal tools, systems, and engineering best practices. Once onboarded, you will work on maintenance, bug fixing, and developing straightforward features for our core backend services—primarily RESTful APIs that manage player actions and financial transactions. You will participate in code reviews, write clean and testable code, and collaborate closely with QA Engineers to ensure seamless deployments. Following your training, a personal development plan will be established to help support your long-term career growth. Mission & Responsibilities Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code adhering to established team standards and guidelines. Assist in developing, maintaining, and optimizing RESTful API services under the guidance of senior team members. Participate actively in the team’s code review process, learning from peer feedback and reviewing code to improve quality. Collaborate closely with QA Engineers to reproduce, troubleshoot, and fix software defects. Apply core software engineering principles in daily development tasks. Engage proactively in team discussions, training opportunities, and continuous learning to expand technical skills. Qualifications Practical experience or strong foundational knowledge in PHP web development. Basic understanding of JavaScript (Node.js or browser-based JS). Working knowledge of relational databases, specifically MySQL or MariaDB (queries, basic schema design). Foundational understanding of Docker for running and navigating containerized local environments. Basic understanding of RESTful API concepts, HTTP methods, and web architecture. Familiarity with Version Control Systems, specifically Git (branching, commits, pull/merge requests). Willingness and openness to work with plain/vanilla PHP when required, as well as frameworks. Strong problem-solving aptitude, eagerness to learn, and strong team-oriented communication skills. Fluency in English is a must Advantages: Understanding of fundamental software design principles. Hands-on experience or coursework involving Node.js. Familiarity with unit and integration testing tools (e.g., PHPUnit, Codeception). Basic understanding of web servers such as Nginx or Apache. Knowledge of basic CI/CD concepts or automated deployment tools.
