At this international machinery manufacturer, you will translate customer requirements into practical, manufacturable solutions. You will work on customised machines and mechanical modules, combining established technology with new designs and improvements. We welcome experienced Mechanical Engineers who enjoy designing and taking technical responsibility, as well as engineers who already lead projects and guide colleagues. The balance between hands-on design and technical coordination will depend on your experience, strengths and ambitions. Your responsibilities: You will work within Order Engineering, collaborating with mechanical, electrical and software engineers, project management, purchasing and production. You will remain involved as designs move towards manufacturing, assembly and testing. Your core responsibilities include: Translate customer requirements and technical specifications into mechanical concepts and detailed designs.Design structures, modules and assemblies using parametric 3D CAD software.Select and integrate components such as motors, drives, sensors, bearings and linear guides.Choose materials and manufacturing methods, considering sheet metal fabrication, machining, assembly and cost.Perform engineering calculations, tolerance stack-up analyses and design risk assessments.Prepare and maintain manufacturing drawings, bills of materials and technical documentation.Resolve engineering questions during manufacturing, assembly and testing.Improve existing designs through standardisation, component reuse and practical cost reduction. If you already have technical leadership experience, your responsibilities can also include: Review customer requirements and sales specifications for feasibility, scope and engineering effort.Establish the overall machine concept and guide engineers through detailed design.Coordinate engineering activities with colleagues locally and internationally.Monitor technical quality, engineering schedules, risks, changes and costs.Lead technical discussions with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.Coordinate design reviews and release. If your experience is primarily in mechanical design, you will take ownership of your designs and work closely with a Lead Engineer on the wider project. Previous team leadership is not a requirement for this level. The working environment: It's a busy environment with several projects running simultaneously. While developing a design, you may receive an urgent production question or a change request for another machine. You enjoy this variety, communicate clearly and know how to prioritise. You balance sound engineering with delivery deadlines and understand when a solution meets the requirements and is ready to move forward. Company profile: This international organisation develops complex machinery for industrial customers worldwide. Its machines combine mechanical systems, product handling and process technology. Existing machine concepts form the foundation for customer-specific solutions, supported by new developments where required. You will join a compact, multidisciplinary engineering team in the ’s-Hertogenbosch region. Engineers work closely with project management, sales, purchasing and international manufacturing colleagues. There is room to contribute both to machine designs and to improvements in the way engineering work is organised. Your profile: A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related technical field.Around five years or more of relevant mechanical design experience within machinery, high-tech equipment or industrial automation.Experience independently developing mechanical assemblies into manufacturable designs.Practical knowledge of moving mechanisms, materials, tolerances and manufacturing processes.Experience with parametric 3D CAD software. Knowledge of Creo is an advantage; experience with another package and willingness to learn are also welcome.Familiarity with Design for Manufacturing, design risk assessment and relevant technical standards.A good command of English; Dutch is not required.Availability for a 40-hour working week on site. For candidates joining at Lead level, we additionally look for experience guiding engineers, coordinating technical projects and managing priorities, schedules and engineering costs. Periodic international travel forms part of the Lead responsibilities. Experience with process machinery or automated product handling is valuable. Previous experience with the semiconductor industry is not essential.
