Senior Software Engineer (.NET & AI Platforms) Managed Services Provider Mainly remote with travel £60,000 - £70,000 DOE We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our clients Platform team and help build and develop their AI ecosystem. You’ll be part of a small, close-knit team, working across internal applications, shared services and reusable capabilities that help drive AI adoption across the organisation. This is a hands-on role, split across software engineering / delivery and covering technical leadership, solution design and working with stakeholders. You’ll take ownership of technical workstreams and implementation decisions, working within the wider direction set by the Principal Architect. The focus is very much on application and platform software. You’ll work in a remote-first, agile environment, helping to improve existing solutions while also learning and developing as AI technologies continue to evolve. Key Responsibilities: Design, develop and maintain enterprise applications, APIs and shared services using C#, .NET, ASP.NET and Blazor.Build AI-powered applications, including RAG solutions, AI agents and orchestration capabilities.Lead technical workstreams, assess different approaches and make implementation decisions within the agreed architectural direction.Create reusable platform components and accelerators, supported by documentation and examples that can be adopted by other teams.Work closely with architects, engineers and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver practical solutions.Maintain and enhance existing applications, with a focus on scalability, performance, maintainability and reusability.Carry out code reviews, develop unit and integration tests and contribute to engineering standards and knowledge sharing.Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, release processes and reliable software delivery.Support production troubleshooting, incident investigation and root cause analysis, helping to improve performance and meet service-level commitments.Occasionally support customer-facing applications alongside the Service Delivery team.During your first year, you’ll have the opportunity to deliver AI capabilities that are adopted across multiple teams and contribute to the continued development of the platform architecture. Experience: Typically 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a track record of owning enterprise applications from design through to production support.Strong C# and modern .NET skills, with experience working with .NET Framework and ASP.NET applications.Hands-on experience with ASP.NET Core, REST APIs, microservices, event-driven architectures and Blazor.Experience with at least one of SQL Server, PostgreSQL or Cosmos DB.Experience with CI/CD, unit testing and integration testing.Strong production debugging, root cause analysis and performance optimisation skills.Experience leading technical workstreams, carrying out code reviews and working closely with both technical and business stakeholders.Strong communication, ownership and problem-solving skills, with a pragmatic approach and the ability to adapt, learn and work through ambiguity. Desirable: Experience developing AI applications or working with LLMs, Azure OpenAI, RAG, AI agents, orchestration, vector databases, Semantic Kernel, LangChain or Microsoft Foundry.Experience with Azure App Service, Functions, Container Apps, API Management or Key Vault.Experience with React or Angular, as well as messaging technologies such as Azure Service Bus, RabbitMQ or Kafka.Knowledge of OpenTelemetry, Application Insights, design patterns, SOLID principles, Clean Architecture or Test Driven Development (TDD).
