Senior Electrical Engineer

Job Description The Sr. Electrical Engineer works closely with other engineering disciplines in order to provide crucial electrical decisions and technical strategic data to support Redpath’s projects. This is to enable the implementation of project work in accordance with safety, codes and standards, schedule, quality and cost control. The role bridges engineering and field execution, delivering safe, practical, and constructible electrical, controls, and communications solutions for low- and medium-voltage mining systems under tight schedules and challenging site conditions. Responsibilities Responsible for checking and approval of drawings done by other Engineers, Designers or Engineers-in-Training. including single-line diagrams, layouts, grounding, and cable schedules.Specify, integrate, and commission switchgear, transformers, MCCs, VFDs, soft starters, motors, and protection systems.Perform and review power system studies using ETAP (load flow, short-circuit, coordination, arc-flash) as required for construction and commissioning.Participates in planning, coordination, procurement, and management of the overall design and engineering process of various projectsAccountable for Redpath’s global compliance with electrical standards, policies and proceduresApproval of all electrical equipment selection Audits electrical installations, procedures and compliance with legislationDevelop guidelines for electrical installations with respect to best practices and QA/QC requirementsSign off as Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) on electrical, networks, communications and drawingsSupport PLC-based control systems using Rockwell (Allen-Bradley) and Siemens platforms, including interlocks, and safety logic.Performs and/or provides support for commissioning of new/existing operationsDesign, install, and support industrial networking and communications systems, including:Cisco industrial Ethernet switches and infrastructure, Layer 2 & 3 networks.EtherNet/IP and Modbus TCP networks.Windows Server environment systems.Remote I/O and underground communications systemsAccountable for final electrical certification of electrical installations and hoistsEnsure compliance with legislation, regulations, policies and procedures as related to electrical installationsDevelop, propose and implement as appropriate new technologies in shaft and development electrical designResponsible for detailed engineering design of electrical installations, including health and safety of design, risk analysisActs as liaison between clients and subcontractors regarding electrical installations as requiredParticipate in discussions regarding design and risk management of designsTravel to sites to inspect, take measurements and/or attend technical discussions as neededMentor Engineer-in-Training, Electrical, less experienced Engineers and Designers Qualifications Education Required: Bachelors of Electrical Engineering with P.Eng. license (or equivalent) Preferred: N/A Work Experience Required: 10 years’ post graduate work in an industrial environment, mining preferable Preferred: 15 years’ experience in an engineering environment Computer Skills AutoCAD Structural Engineering Software MS Office SharePoint ETAP Salary Range $120,000.00 - $165,000.00 Annually About Us In 1962, Jim Redpath’s vision for the company was much the same as it is today; offering a high level of service to the mining industry, which exceeds current standards and provides challenge for its employees.
