Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About The Role We are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our R&D team in Cambridge and help shape the next generation of Domino's printing and coding technologies. This is a hybrid role, with an expectation of attending the office at least 3 days per week. This role is ideal for an experienced mechanical engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, influencing product direction and delivering robust engineering solutions. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, You Will Lead the design and development of new products, technologies and product enhancements, taking ownership from concept through to production.Develop innovative mechanical solutions and architectures that meet product, customer and business requirements.Create high-quality CAD models, drawings and technical documentation, applying sound engineering principles to mechanisms, materials, manufacturing processes and tolerancing.Lead prototyping, testing and design verification activities, using structured problem solving and root-cause analysis to address technical challenges.Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations and suppliers to deliver robust, manufacturable and cost-effective designs, championing Design for Manufacture and Assembly principles.Provide technical leadership and mentoring while working across multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative product solutions. Projects may involve precision mechanisms, high-speed motion systems, media handling, fluid systems, thermal management, automation and electro-mechanical integration. You’ll Have A degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.Demonstrated experience in mechanical product design and development within a commercial environment.Proven track record of delivering products through the full development lifecycle, from concept to production.Strong proficiency in 3D CAD design and engineering drawings, ideally using SolidWorks.Sound knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials selection, manufacturing processes, and geometric tolerancing.Experience designing and developing mechanical systems, mechanisms, moving assemblies, or electro-mechanical products.Hands-on experience with prototyping, product testing, verification activities, and root cause investigation.Understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to influence technical decisions and engage stakeholders effectively.Ability to work independently while collaborating successfully within multidisciplinary engineering teams.Experience in precision engineering, industrial printing, inkjet or fluid systems, automation, robotics, high-speed machinery, media transport, or thermal management systems would be advantageous.
