Shift Engineer

Arriva UK Bus is looking for skilled and experienced Engineers to join our growing engineering teams across the business. As an Engineer at Arriva, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and improving our fleet and infrastructure, helping ensure our vehicles remain safe, reliable, and fully operational for the millions of passengers who rely on our services every day. Key Responsibilities – Engineer / PSV Engineer / HGV Technician Carry out preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on buses, PSVs, vehicles, and engineering equipmentDiagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults using advanced diagnostic tools and equipmentComplete repairs, modifications, and upgrades in line with DVSA, safety, and engineering standardsSupport fleet reliability through effective fault finding and technical problem solvingRead and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, manuals, and technical documentationEnsure all maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standardMaintain accurate engineering records, inspection reports, and maintenance documentationWork collaboratively with workshop teams, supervisors, and operational departmentsSupport continuous improvement initiatives to improve vehicle reliability and workshop efficiencyProvide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and apprentices where required What We’re Looking For NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in PSV or Heavy Vehicle MaintenancePrevious experience as a PSV Engineer, HGV Technician, Bus Mechanic, Vehicle Technician, Mechanical Engineer, or Heavy Vehicle EngineerStrong diagnostic and fault-finding experience within a workshop or fleet environmentExperience using engineering tools, workshop equipment, and vehicle diagnostic systemsAbility to work independently and as part of an engineering teamGood understanding of health and safety procedures within engineering and transport environmentsStrong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanshipFull UK driving licence preferredFlexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays where required Why Join Arriva UK Bus?
