Backend Engineer

Its technology is designed to automate workflows that have traditionally depended on substantial human effort while maintaining the reliability and security expected in enterprise environments. The Opportunity As a Backend Engineer, you’ll play a key role in building the systems that allow AI agents to interact with enterprise software securely, reliably, and at scale. You’ll contribute across backend services, cloud infrastructure, identity and access management, integrations, and internal developer tooling. What You’ll Do Design and develop scalable backend services that support AI-powered applications and enterprise workloads.Build core platform capabilities for authentication, identity, authorization, permissions, tenant isolation, and account management.Develop secure connections between AI agents and business tools such as Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, Teams, Zoom, email, and telephony platforms.Create and maintain integrations with enterprise applications including NetSuite, SharePoint, Google Drive, SAP, Oracle, and comparable systems.Design APIs, services, and platform abstractions that allow AI applications to interact reliably with external software.Develop systems for customer onboarding, provisioning, configuration, deployments, and environment lifecycle management.Take ownership of services from initial architecture and implementation through deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.Improve the availability, scalability, latency, and resilience of backend systems as customer usage expands.Work closely with AI, infrastructure, and product engineering teams to define service boundaries, APIs, architectural patterns, and reusable platform components.Identify opportunities to automate deployment, infrastructure, and operational workflows.Implement security mechanisms for data isolation, access control, auditing, and the safe execution of AI-driven workflows.Contribute to architectural and technical decisions as the platform and engineering organization evolve.Drive projects from technical discovery and design through production launch and long-term ownership.Help develop backend engineering standards, best practices, and reusable patterns. What You Bring Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.2+ years of professional experience building backend applications, distributed systems, infrastructure, or cloud services.Experience developing production software where scalability, reliability, security, and performance are critical.Strong understanding of APIs, distributed systems, authentication, authorization, IAM, RBAC, and access-control models.Experience connecting software to enterprise SaaS products or other business-critical systems.Practical experience with cloud infrastructure, production releases, monitoring, observability, and operational tooling.Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills across both application and infrastructure layers.Solid software engineering fundamentals and the ability to make thoughtful production architecture decisions.Demonstrated ability to independently take ownership of projects from design through deployment and ongoing maintenance.Familiarity with enterprise security, compliance frameworks, SOC 2, data protection, or access governance is a plus.Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across backend, infrastructure, AI, and product teams.Comfortable working in an early-stage environment where product requirements, priorities, and technical challenges can change quickly.
