For more information, visit https://www.bitdefender.comWe are looking for a Mobile Developer to lead native Android development while contributing to our iOS client for our Mobile Threat Defense (MTD) platform. In this role, you will build and scale client-side security engines designed to detect, analyze, and mitigate mobile threats—including network interception, malware, OS vulnerabilities, and device tampering. Android will be your primary focus (~70%), where you will work closely with system-level APIs, network services, and background workers. You will also maintain and implement parallel security capabilities on iOS (~30%). This position is ideal for an engineer who understands mobile OS internals, cares deeply about performance and battery efficiency, and wants to work at the intersection of mobile architecture and cybersecurity. Key ResponsibilitiesAndroid Development (Primary Focus) Design, implement, and maintain core threat-detection modules on Android using modern Kotlin. Implement OS-level integrations, including local VPN services (VpnService), network traffic inspectors, device administration hooks, and Android Enterprise / Work Profile APIs. Build resilient, battery-optimized background routines utilizing WorkManager and foreground services compliant with modern Android background execution limits. Integrate anti-tampering, reverse-engineering mitigations, root detection, and Google Play Integrity API verification. iOS Development (Secondary Focus) Develop, update, and maintain threat detection features for the iOS agent in Swift (SwiftUI / UIKit / Objective C). Work with iOS security frameworks and network extensions (e.g., NetworkExtension, Packet Tunnel Provider, Content Filtering). Implement jailbreak detection, bundle integrity verification, and DeviceCheck / App Attest APIs. Architecture, Performance & Delivery Maintain clean, decoupled architectures (MVVM or MVI) to ensure parity of business logic and telemetry across both platforms. Optimize client performance to achieve continuous threat monitoring with minimal resource, memory, and battery footprint. Build and maintain automated unit, integration, and UI tests; integrate code into CI/CD pipelines. Support enterprise application distribution through Mobile Device Management (MDM/UEM) platforms (e.g., Microsoft Intune, VMware Workspace ONE) alongside public store releases. Qualifications & SkillsMust-Have Requirements Professional Experience: 3–5 years of production mobile application development experience. Android Proficiency: Strong mastery of Kotlin and modern Android SDKs. Experience with asynchronous programming (Kotlin Coroutines, Flow). Solid grasp of Android architecture components (Jetpack, ViewModel, Navigation, Hilt/Koin). In-depth understanding of Android OS internals, permissions models, IPC, and background execution policies. iOS Working Knowledge: 1–2+ years of hands-on experience building and shipping iOS applications in Swift. Familiarity with Swift Concurrency (async/await, Actors) or Combine. Networking & Security Fundamentals: Strong working knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, TLS/SSL, DNS, HTTP/3). Experience with certificate pinning, public key infrastructure (PKI), and secure data storage (Android Keystore, iOS Keychain). Engineering Rigor: Proficiency with Git, code reviews, unit testing, and modular architecture. Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate asynchronously across distributed teams. Nice-to-Have / Preferred Qualifications Prior domain experience in Mobile Threat Defense (MTD), Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), VPN apps, or security SDK development. Experience with low-level Android components via JNI / C++ (Android NDK). Familiarity with Samsung Knox SDK or custom OEM management extensions. Direct experience writing custom iOS Network Extensions (NEPacketTunnelProvider, NEFilterDataProvider). Familiarity with App Store and Google Play enterprise distribution mechanisms, managed app configurations (AppConfig), and zero-touch enrollment.#LI-SA1
