Contract - OUTSIDE IR35

We’re looking for an experienced Senior kdb+ Engineer to join a fast-paced, high-performance technology environment, working on data-intensive financial systems.
This is a hands-on technical role suited to someone with deep expertise in kdb+, q, and time-series data, alongside strong experience designing and scaling production systems.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for delivering high-performance, scalable solutions across complex financial data environments.
You will:
Lead technical delivery across projects, setting high standards for quality, performance, and maintainability.Design and implement robust kdb+ architectures capable of handling billions of rows of time-series data.Develop high-performance q code and optimise systems for scalability and reliability.Collaborate with quants, traders, analysts, and technical stakeholders to translate business requirements into efficient technical solutions.Mentor and support junior and mid-level developers, helping to drive technical excellence.Own the full development lifecycle, including development, testing, deployment, support, and ongoing maintenance.Drive continuous improvement and innovation, keeping up to date with developments across kdb+, q, and related technologies.
What We’re Looking For
Hands on experience with kdb+ development experience, with deep expertise in q and time-series data.Proven experience designing kdb+ architectures and scaling kdb+ systems in production.Strong experience working in Unix/Linux environments and with scripting.Demonstrated technical leadership and strong decision-making in fast-paced projects.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Experience within capital markets or investment banking, with a strong understanding of the domain and its demands.A passion for writing clean, performant, maintainable code and continuously improving systems and processes.
