Electronics Test Engineer

£35,000–£50,000 Wolverhampton, WV4 6FB Hybrid (3–4 days in the office) Permanent, Full-time About The Opportunity Fortress Safety is hiring an Electronics Test Engineer to lead the testing of our safety-critical electronic hardware, from design verification and validation through to NPI and production. Based in Wolverhampton (West Midlands) on a hybrid pattern, you'll join our Engineering team and report to the Electronics Engineering Manager. We're Flexible On Experience You might currently work as a Test Engineer, Hardware Test Engineer, Test and Validation Engineer or Electronics Engineer. However you got here, we're open to your background. That includes the test equipment and automated test platforms you've used, the scripting and test automation languages you know, the communication protocols you've worked with, and the industry you come from. What You'll Be Doing Developing, putting in place and maintaining electronic test procedures and test equipment for new and existing productsCarrying out design verification, validation, functional, environmental and reliability testingDiagnosing and repairing hardware faults at board and system levelDesigning and commissioning automated and semi-automated test systems that improve quality and efficiencyAnalysing test results and producing clear technical reports and recommendationsSupporting new product introduction (NPI) and manufacturing transfer projectsWorking with design engineers to make products easier to test and more reliableInvestigating failures using structured root cause analysisHelping production and quality teams resolve manufacturing and field-return issuesKeeping test specifications and documentation up to date and compliant with industry and regulatory standards What You'll Bring Must-have A degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in a related engineering discipline3+ years' experience in electronics test, validation or developmentA strong understanding of analogue and digital circuitsHands-on experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies and signal generatorsProven fault-finding skills down to component and board levelConfidence reading schematics and technical documentationThe ability to analyse data and write detailed technical reportsAn understanding of EMC, safety and relevant compliance standards Nice-to-have Experience with automated test systems and test software development, in any language or platformAn understanding of embedded firmware at bare-metal levelExperience with spectrum analysers What We Offer 25 days' holiday plus bank holidaysOption to work a 9-day fortnight (compressed hours)Pension with employer contributions of up to 10.5%Company bonus schemeAnnual Halma share vesting schemeLife assuranceEyecareBike to work schemeAirport parking discountsLong service recognition Inclusion and belonging At Fortress, we don't just accept difference, we celebrate it.
