Senior Software Developer

Our Growth Product Development team is looking for an experienced Senior Software Developer to build Elisa’s next generation of digital products and services. In this role, you will work on new growth opportunities and help turn early ideas into experiments, minimum viable products and scalable digital services. You will be, first and foremost, a hands-on software developer. At the same time, you will actively contribute to deciding what should be built, how it should be implemented and what the team should do next. Who are we? We are part of Elisa’s Digital Services unit, developing new digital products and services together with Elisa’s different business units. Our work focuses on new growth. We explore customer and business problems, test new solutions and develop the most promising opportunities towards production and scale. Our projects can be at very different stages of maturity, which means that the problems are not always fully defined and there may not yet be a ready-made backlog or established technical solution. Our team brings together software development, product thinking, design, data and business expertise. What we build can directly shape Elisa’s future products and businesses, so our work has both visible impact and real value. About The Job As a Senior Software Developer, you will design, build, test and operate software for new digital products and services. Your work may range from rapid technical experiments and prototypes to production-grade solutions that need to be secure, maintainable and scalable. Your Responsibilities Will Include Designing and implementing new features and servicesTurning unclear problems and ideas into concrete technical solutionsBuilding rapid experiments and minimum viable productsDeveloping AI-enabled features and applicationsUsing AI-assisted development tools effectively in your daily workEvaluating technical alternatives and making pragmatic architecture decisionsImproving and maintaining codebasesPerforming code reviews, testing and test automationContributing to deployment, monitoring and other DevOps activitiesCollaborating closely with product, design, business and other technical expertsHelping the team identify the most valuable next step This is not a role where you will only implement predefined requirements. We expect you to form opinions, propose solutions and constructively challenge ideas when you see a better way forward. The environment requires adaptability. The products, technologies and business contexts may change, and part of the work is learning quickly enough to make good decisions despite uncertainty. What do we expect from you? We are looking for a strong and versatile software developer. Your expertise may lean towards backend or frontend development, but you should be comfortable contributing across the software development lifecycle. We Expect You To Have Several years of solid experience in modern, production-grade software developmentStrong hands-on programming skills and the ability to independently deliver working softwarePractical experience with generative AI, large language models or AI-enabled application developmentExperience using AI-assisted development tools as part of your software engineering workflowThe ability to turn an unclear problem into a concrete experiment, solution or product incrementSound understanding of software quality, testing, security, maintainability and scalabilityThe ability to assess technical solutions from customer, business, cost and operational perspectivesA proactive working style and the ability to identify what should be investigated, tested or built nextWell-founded opinions and the confidence to communicate them constructivelyGood collaboration and communication skills in a cross-functional environmentThe willingness to learn new technologies, industries and business models Experience in building new products, prototypes or minimum viable products is particularly valuable. We also appreciate experience in taking AI-enabled solutions into production, including their evaluation, monitoring, security and responsible use. Our working language is English. Finnish language skills are considered an advantage. Technologies Our technology choices depend on the product and problem we are solving. Technologies commonly used in our environment include: TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Node.js, AWS, REST APIs, GraphQL, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, Docker, SQL and NoSQL databases, test automation and modern observability tools. For AI-enabled development, relevant experience may include areas such as: Large language model APIs and AI application frameworksRetrieval-augmented generationAI agents and workflow automationModel and solution evaluationPrompt and context engineeringSecure handling of data in AI-enabled applicationsAI-assisted software development tools You do not need to have experience with every technology listed. We value strong software engineering fundamentals, demonstrated ability to learn and the judgment to select appropriate tools for the problem at hand. Location and ways of working Your position will be located in Helsinki, and our home base is Elisa’s headquarters in Pasila. We believe face-to-face interaction is important for developing our culture, strengthening collaboration and building a sense of community.
