Senior Application Developer / Engineer

Responsibilities Design and build scalable software solutions based on complex business and technical requirementsDevelop and maintain applications in AWS and on-premises environmentsCreate geospatial functionality using ESRI technologies such as mapping and geocodingUse AI tools, such as Claude or similar platforms, to improve productivity, troubleshooting, and code qualityImplement Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform and support containerized deployments with ECSDevelop responsive frontend features using AngularWrite clean, maintainable code and produce clear technical documentationCollaborate with cross-functional teams in Agile delivery environmentsPerform testing, debugging, and code reviews to help ensure application qualitySupport production systems and resolve issues as neededContribute technical insight and help keep work aligned with project timelines Skills 7+ years of experience in software development or programmer/analyst roles3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS and modern web technologiesStrong experience with Angular and full-stack application developmentExperience with AWS services such as ECS, S3, RDS, Lambda, and API GatewayKnowledge of Terraform, Docker, and cloud-native architecture patternsExperience with ESRI tools or similar geospatial platforms, including map development and geocodingAbility to analyze requirements and translate them into effective technical solutionsExperience working with relational and NoSQL databasesStrong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skillsComfort working collaboratively in Agile environments Preferred Skills Experience using Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, or similar AI tools in development workflowsFamiliarity with GitLab and CI/CD pipelinesExperience providing technical guidance or supporting team deliveryBackground in creating architecture diagrams, data flow documentation, or other technical materialsA bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent experienceAWS certifications are a plus Horizontal is committed to building an inclusive workplace where diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences are valued.
