Role: Desk Developer (Excel / Pricing Support) – Mid-Level Client: European Investment Bank Location: London / Hybrid Contract: Permanent Overview: We are supporting a leading European investment bank in hiring a mid-level Desk Developer to work closely with Front Office trading team, Interest Rate Desk. The role focuses on enhancing, remediating, and supporting Python and Excel-based pricing tools used on the trading desk, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and fit for ongoing business use. This is a highly interactive role requiring strong collaboration with Traders, Quants, and Technology teams. Key Responsibilities Develop, enhance and maintain Excel-based pricing models used by the trading deskRemediate legacy spreadsheets to improve performance, stability, and usabilityWork directly with Traders to understand requirements and translate these into practical solutionsPartner with Quant teams to ensure pricing logic and models are correctly implementedProvide ongoing support and troubleshooting for desk tools and pricing sheetsImprove documentation, controls, and governance around Excel-based modelsContribute to the gradual evolution of tools where appropriate (e.g. integration with Python or other technologies) Required Skills & Experience Strong hands-on Python development experienceExperience working in Front Office / trading environments within Financial ServicesUnderstanding of pricing models and financial products (equities, derivatives or similar preferred)Proven ability to work directly with business users (Traders) in a fast-paced environmentStrong communication skills, with the ability to liaise across business and Quant teamsExperience remediating or supporting legacy spreadsheet-based tools Desirable Exposure to C++ or other scripting languagesExperience working alongside Quant teams or implementing quantitative modelsKnowledge of model governance / controls within a banking environment Key Characteristics Pragmatic problem solver with a “business-first” mindsetComfortable operating in a front-office, high-pressure environmentStrong attention to detail and ownership of deliverables
