A major digital consumer-facing platform in Manchester is hiring a Senior .NET Developer to help improve and evolve a live, business-critical technology estate.
This is not babysitting a legacy estate with no roadmap.
The platform is live, commercially important and actively being improved, with a real focus on performance, reliability, scalability and technical quality.
You’ll be working across C#/.NET, Web API, WCF, SQL/NoSQL, caching, messaging, Windows Services and performance optimisation, with a healthy mix of new feature development and improvement work across existing systems.
The role suits someone who enjoys proper backend/platform engineering.
Someone who can take ownership of work from development through to production, improve what already exists, and work closely with Lead Developers to raise the quality of how software is built and supported.
What you’ll be doing
Building and improving features across C#/.NET applications
Working with Web API, WCF, SQL/NoSQL and backend services
Improving performance, reliability and maintainability across live systems
Supporting integrations, internal services and platform improvements
Working with Lead Developers on standards, design and technical quality
Owning developments through testing, release and production support
Helping reduce technical debt across a mature Microsoft estate

Strong commercial experience with C#/.NET
Experience with Web API, REST services and WCF
Strong database experience across SQL Server, MySQL or NoSQL
Comfortable working with legacy systems, Windows Services or established .NET estates
