Position: R&D Engineer

As a CAD/CAM & R&D Engineer at ABYAT, you will play a key role in transforming product designs into accurate, production-ready solutions for our wood and fabric manufacturing operations.
You will work closely with R&D and production teams to develop CAD models, prepare CNC programs, optimize material usage, support prototyping, and ensure a smooth design-to-production workflow.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop 2D and 3D product designs, parametric models, and technical production drawings using AutoCAD, Rhino, and/or SolidWorks.Prepare CNC-ready programs and toolpaths for wood and fabric production machinery, including multi-axis CNC machines.Support the development, testing, and refinement of prototypes in collaboration with R&D and production teams.Optimize material utilization through nesting techniques and machine simulation to minimize waste.Maintain standardized digital libraries, templates, parametric models, and cut-file archives.Ensure proper documentation, revision control, and traceability of design changes.Support machine operators, troubleshoot digital-to-machine issues, and contribute to production efficiency improvements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.Hands-on experience in CAD/CAM, CNC programming, toolpath generation, and CNC machining.Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Rhino, or similar CAD/CAM software.Experience with 3-, 4-, or 5-axis CNC machinery is preferred.Knowledge of wood fabrication, machining, finishing, nesting, and material optimization.Exposure to upholstery or fabric-patterning processes is an advantage.Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.CAD/CAM or CNC-related certifications are a plus.
