Senior Mechanical Engineering Subject Matter Expert

Your role at a glance As our Mechanical/Electrical/Controls Expert Global Design Standards you will be a key member of the NTT Global Design Standards team, working on and delivering translation of the NTT GID Design ‘Product’ defined Owners Project Requirements into the Global Reference Design(GRD). You will provide Regional understanding of the GRD and its engineering detail as it is required to be localised and deployed through third party Architects and Engineers. You will interface with internal stakeholders from parallel business functions, the NTT Product team and regional design delivery teams and design managers. They will support in project design reviews at all stages of project design and delivery on an as required basis. They will consult with members of our Engineering, Expansion, Construction, Operations, Product and Sales teams to ensure optimal design decisions are made with careful assessment of risks and opportunities. They will work closely with the Technical Director of Global Design Standards to drive effectiveness, efficiency and predictability at scale in the development and adoption of best practice design process and procedures. They will support in the management of the Global Design Standards team advising on workload, prioritisation and development areas. Responsibilities: Lead and oversee complex mechanical engineering projects, from concept to execution, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulationsProvide technical guidance and mentorship to mid-level and entry-level mechanical engineersCollaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and innovation in mechanical systems for data center infrastructureContribute to the development and optimization of mechanical systems and upgradesStay informed about emerging trends and best practices in mechanical engineering and apply them to enhance our operationsPrepare and present technical reports and updates to senior management Knowledge, Skills and Attributes: In-depth expertise in either; Mechanical systems, thermodynamics, CFD, and heat transfer principlesControls Systems, controls sequence of operations, controls logic, BMS system architectureElectrical Systems, Standby power systems and their control, electrical load management, discrimination studies, cabling systems, transformers and substationsAdvanced proficiency in Computer Aided Design (CAD) software for complex designsStrong ability to optimize and fine-tune engineering systems for maximum efficiencHighly developed understanding of CX processes and test scriptsComprehensive understanding of data center infrastructure and its integration with engineering systemsLeadership and mentorship skills for guiding other engineers internal and externalProficient in managing personal and professional commitments while working with teams in different time zonesAbility to work in multinational, interdisciplinary and culturally diverse teamsAcknowledged technical expert in a field of design and or specification relevant to the data centre sector Qualifications & Experience: University degree in Engineering ( preferably Electrical, Mechanical, Architectural, Building Engineering or related discipline)Membership of a professional institution recognised as relevant to the data centre sectorSeveral years of experience in data centres and or other mission critical M&E led industriesExperience of working in multi disciplinary design teams preferably in a leading roleExperience in design consultant / client Engineer / site engineer / contractor engineer rolesInternational experience and outlook both in type of company and project experienceIdeally has experience with hyperscale customersThis position is expected to be remote with travel approximately 20% of the time.
