Senior Data Engineer
UK Remote | Occasional travel to London (approximately 1–2 times per month)
Exciting opportunity for a Senior Data Engineer to join a growing technology function at an important stage of its data transformation journey.
The business is building a new group-wide data platform using Microsoft Fabric and Azure, with Power BI as the primary analytics and reporting layer.
This is a hands-on role with genuine scope to influence how the platform is built, establishing engineering standards, patterns and best practices as the data environment continues to mature.
You will take a leading role in building and extending data pipelines across Microsoft Fabric, working with a broad range of enterprise source systems and data domains.
You’ll also help shape the technical standards for the platform, ensuring data is reliable, secure, governed and accessible across the organisation.
The Role:
- Build, maintain and extend data ingestion, transformation and orchestration pipelines across Microsoft Fabric.
- Develop data models, curated datasets and semantic models to support Power BI, analytics and data science.
- Help establish engineering standards, reusable patterns and best practices across a growing data platform.
- Work across multiple enterprise source systems and data domains, with responsibility for data quality, governance, security and platform performance.
- Provide technical guidance to other engineers and help develop the wider organisation's use of the data platform.
The Person:
- Strong commercial experience as a hands-on Data Engineer, ideally having helped build or mature a cloud data platform rather than solely operating an established environment.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, alongside Python, SQL and Azure technologies.
- Experience building production data pipelines, data models and analytics-ready datasets, ideally with Power BI as a consumption layer.
- Good understanding of modern data architecture, including lakehouse/warehouse patterns, data quality, governance and security.
- Comfortable working across a complex or multi-site organisation and collaborating with architects, analysts, data scientists and wider technology teams.
