DevOps Engineer

Typical Activities Working in collaboration with Service Engineering, Service Operations, Engineering, Security and project teams, the DevOps Engineer will help evolve our infrastructure through automation, Infrastructure-as-Code and modern DevOps practices. Design, build and maintain infrastructure using Terraform and Ansible.Bring existing infrastructure under code and version control, creating consistent and repeatable environments.Deploy, configure and support Kubernetes clusters and containerised workloads across AWS and on-premises environments.Design and maintain secure CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and service deployments.Develop Bash and Python scripts and tooling to automate operational tasks and improve service delivery.Implement monitoring, alerting and dashboards using Prometheus, Grafana and centralised logging solutions.Support AWS and on-premises infrastructure, including Linux, networking, virtualisation, storage and associated services.Build and support deployment processes for secure and air-gapped environments.Troubleshoot infrastructure and platform incidents, perform root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes.Promote DevOps practices across the team, sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues in adopting automation, IaC and version control. What We're Looking For Strong practical experience with Terraform and Ansible, including Infrastructure-as-Code and configuration management.Experience deploying, configuring and troubleshooting Kubernetes and Docker environments.Strong knowledge of AWS, including EC2, S3, IAM, Systems Manager, CloudWatch and AWS networking.Experience building and supporting Linux-based on-premises infrastructure within virtualised environments.Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, using tools such as GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins or CircleCI.Strong scripting skills using Bash and Python, alongside good Git/version control practices.Experience implementing monitoring and observability using Prometheus and Grafana.Good understanding of networking fundamentals, including DNS, TCP/IP, routing, VLANs and firewalls.Experience applying security best practices, including system hardening, patching and least-privilege access.A proactive, collaborative approach with strong problem-solving, communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Desirable Experience working with secure or air-gapped environments, including offline repositories, artefact management and deployment processes.Experience with advanced Kubernetes tooling and security, including Helm, RBAC, network policies and private registries.Knowledge of AWS security and multi-account services such as CloudTrail, Config, GuardDuty, KMS and AWS Organizations.Experience with secrets management, vulnerability scanning, policy-as-code or IaC scanning tools such as HashiCorp Vault, Checkov, Trivy or OPA.Relevant certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect Associate, CKA or CKAD.
