Description

For ING, we are looking for an experienced Senior Frontend Engineer to join the Frontend Foundation Web domain in Amsterdam. This is not a traditional frontend development role. ING is looking for an engineer at heart: someone who deeply understands JavaScript and TypeScript, can explain and challenge technical decisions, and enjoys working on frontend architecture, tooling and developer experience. An important focus of the role is AI. The team is exploring how AI agents can perform specific engineering tasks and become part of the frontend development lifecycle. You don't need to be an AI specialist, but your interest should go beyond simply using tools such as Copilot. Experience building AI agents or AI-powered workflows is a strong advantage. What will you do? Build and improve AI-powered engineering solutions and AI agents.Contribute to ING's frontend architecture and engineering standards.Develop and maintain shared frontend libraries, components and tooling.Work extensively with JavaScript, TypeScript and Node.js.Contribute to CI/CD and deployment solutions within a Micro-Frontend architecture.Help improve developer experience and share your knowledge with other engineers. What do you bring? 10+ years of experience in software development/engineering.Strong knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript, including the fundamentals of how JavaScript works.Experience with Node.js and Web Components.Experience with frontend build tooling such as Webpack and/or Rollup.Experience with CI/CD, preferably Azure DevOps.Knowledge of SPA, SSR and SSG, preferably Next.js.Experience with TDD/BDD and automated testing.A genuine interest in AI and agentic development.Strong technical communication skills and excellent English. Here’s what you can expect A contract until 30 April 2027, with the possibility of extension.A 36-hour working week.A salary range of € 5.177,70 - € 5.943,54 gross per month, based on 36 hours per week and depending on experience.Additional benefits, including holiday allowance, a 13th-month payment, and pension contribution.
