Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Hyperscale Data Centres Fully Remote working on various European Projects Permanent The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a specialist Data Centre Consultancy, working directly with a major client on the design and delivery of large-scale, hyperscale data centre projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong Mechanical Design Engineer with a proven track record in hyperscale data centre design, who is looking to take ownership of projects through the full design lifecycle, from concept and feasibility through to detailed design and construction. You will work closely with the client and wider multidisciplinary design team, providing high-quality mechanical engineering solutions for technically complex and mission-critical facilities. Key Responsibilities Develop and deliver mechanical designs for hyperscale data centre projects.Work directly with the client and coordinate closely with architects, electrical engineers, structural engineers, contractors and other stakeholders.Take responsibility for mechanical design throughout the full project lifecycle, from concept through to detailed design and construction.Produce and review mechanical design calculations, specifications, reports and technical documentation.Develop detailed mechanical layouts and coordinated models using Autodesk Revit.Design and coordinate HVAC and associated mechanical systems for mission-critical environments.Undertake system sizing, engineering calculations and equipment selection.Review designs for compliance with relevant codes, standards, client requirements and project specifications.Participate in design reviews, technical meetings and coordination workshops.Identify and resolve design issues throughout the project lifecycle.Provide technical input during construction and respond to RFIs and technical queries where required.Coordinate with BIM teams and other disciplines to ensure fully integrated and clash-free designs. Essential Requirements The successful candidate must have: Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer within the data centre sector.Significant experience working on hyperscale data centre design projects — this is essential.Strong knowledge of mechanical building services design within mission-critical environments.Demonstrable experience using Autodesk Revit for mechanical design and modelling.Experience delivering projects through the full design lifecycle, from concept through to detailed design and construction.Strong practical experience in mechanical engineering calculations, system sizing and equipment selection.Experience producing technical reports, specifications and detailed design documentation.Ability to work directly with clients and confidently communicate technical information.Strong multidisciplinary coordination experience.Excellent technical problem-solving and design skills.Must hold a valid UK or EU passport and have the right to work on the project. Desirable Experience Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering / Building Services Engineering.Chartered or working towards Chartered Engineer status.Experience with large-scale international hyperscale data centre operators.Experience working within a consultancy environment.Experience with BIM Level 2 / ISO 19650 environments.Knowledge of data centre resilience, redundancy and critical systems.Familiarity with relevant CIBSE, ASHRAE and international data centre standards.
