The Role You'll lead engineers across several small squads, reporting to our CTO. Our Technical Leads own architecture and technical decisions. You own everything that turns those decisions into shipped work: delivery schedules, team capacity, ways of working and clear, honest reporting to leadership. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who likes visibility and accountability. You'll know where every project stands, spot slippage before it happens, and raise it early in writing. You'll also grow your people and your team, through regular feedback, fair promotion decisions and hiring engineers who strengthen both capability and culture. What You'll Be Doing Own end-to-end delivery across the SMS roadmap, including schedules, regression windows and change logsManage capacity and workload, balancing feature delivery, operational work and technical debtRun weekly squad-health reviews and keep delivery hygiene (Jira, estimates, SLAs) in good shapeHold regular 1:1s, coach and mentor, and lead performance reviews and promotionsShape the team's growth strategy and lead hiring and onboardingPartner with Technical Leads, Product, Design, QA, Platform and LMS Engineering, and Customer SupportDrive improvements in incident management, CI/CD, testing and engineering practice What We're Looking For 2–5 years leading software engineering teams, with a track record in performance management and team growthHands-on technical experience building SaaS or cloud-based applicationsProven strength in project delivery, schedule governance, capacity planning and escalationConfidence holding teams to high standards of work hygiene and overseeing direct report deliverablesExperience balancing feature delivery with reliability, performance and securitySolid working knowledge of Scrum or KanbanA degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar, or equivalent experience Preferred AWS, Azure or Google CloudJava, PHP, TypeScript or ReactModernising monoliths towards microservices, containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) or serverlessBuilding and running CI/CD pipelines and automated testingSecure software development practices What We Offer A central location, close to public transport, cafes and shops, with free on-site parking available.A vibrant, supportive and team-oriented culture, with regular team activities and social events.Opportunities for flexible and hybrid working.A focus on professional development and learning, with access to our LMS, external and internal training opportunities and your own personal annual PD budgetAccess for you and your family to an Employee Assistance Program and resources.Cashback offers and discounts on popular brands through our Employment Hero app.Opportunities for career development with well defined career pathways across the business.Proud members of Women in Technology with access to networking events, professional development opportunities and resources.
